Many desires, so I've finally decided to issue a second publication. A second? Indeed. In fact, many readers may not be familiar with my previous writings in "The Conqueror Manifesto: Capricornus Teitan", published by Of God's Disgrace in 1996. "The Conqueror Manifesto" was the culmination of years of research and writing, and was hailed as both brilliant and iconoclastic by those who read it. And now "Controlled Burn (the Philosophy of Ascension)", published by Kampfrune Press.<br></b></i></div><div><i><b><br></b></i></div><div><i><b>This shorter booklet is designed as both a precursor to and a follow-up to the aforementioned book. "Controlled Burn" contains some more recent writings, in "Pearls to Swine" and "The Scent of War and Women", as well as some material already covered in "The Conqueror Manifesto". However, the shape that both "Defining Heretic Supremacy" and "The Doctrine of Self-Will" take here is a vast improvement over their initial debut in the "Manifesto". I have chosen to include them for two reasons: to provide a sample of the ideology and philosophy presented in the "Manifesto" (for those unable or unwilling to obtain it), and because I am much more satisfied with their format and clarity in "Controlled Burn". For those who already adhere to the ideas espoused</b></i></div><div><i><b><br></b></i></div><div><i><b>herein, or who are swayed by them, I strongly urge that you continue down the path of Heretic Supremacy. "The Conqueror Manifesto" delves into far greater detail than any of the aphorisms contained in "Controlled Burn" attempt. And with reason: this booklet was meant as a proselytizing or introduction tool, while the "Manifesto" fleshes out the statements into being. And thus does the Conqueror proclaim:</b></i></div><div><i><b><br></b></i></div><div><i><b>"Surge forth towards new horizons, racing your hoofs across the rocks: the zenith knows only the limits that are placed upon it!"</b></i></div><div><br></div><div>- Peter G. Helmkamp, April 1999.</div><div><br></div><div><b>-------The Doctrine of Self-Will-------</b></div><div><br></div><div>1) This is for the true Rebellious Spirits of unfettered Pride, who follow the Way of their own making! This evocation of Strength & Wisdom is for those who hail the Conquering Ones!</div><div><br></div><div>2) We are Supremacists: we strive for Strength & Wisdom! We acknowledge the inner godhead, and follow our Self-Will! Those that miss the mark should be allowed to fall - should be encouraged to fall these vermin who would be of no help to us.</div><div><br></div><div>3) We anchor our Supremacy in our actions and our deeds, in our Knowledge and Power, in the National! Only with this bold base of support can we begin to accomplish our goals.</div><div><br></div><div>4) We are Heretics: the champions of free will. Not merely individuals' who follow an alternate path, but true Conquerors who, through the courage of their convictions, stand their ground in the face of despair.</div><div><br></div><div>5) Will is the key: Will opens the portal towards the new Dawn. Unfettered force, boldly unleashed to whip the masses into compliance that is true Heretical Will!</div><div><br></div><div>6) We are Conquerors: our Supremacy and Heretical action will summon the ire of many who would oppose us. And we have one reply - crush them! We have no time for compromise, there is no place for the half-hearted! Those who truly deserve can and will unite with us - but for the others we offer only enslavement.</div><div><br></div><div>7) The Strong rule the Weak and the Wise rule the Strong - this shall be our reason for existence, it can be no other way. This is the healthy manner in on which Nature guides herself, this is evolution.</div><div><br></div><div>8) Suffering begets survival, or death. Those that weather the frozen winds of winter emerge into a new world every spring a realm of life and nourishment with room for expansion and reason for procreation. This is Nature's reward to the fittest - the opportunity to go it again, to conquer the summerlands and populate them with an even stronger breed!</div><div><br></div><div>9) We are not afraid: Fear is the worm that gnaws at a weak man's heart - we have no place for it.</div><div><br></div><div>10) We Conquer the Fear, we strike it down, for we know its true worth: Fear allows the greater to manipulate the lesser, for it breeds irrationality and ignorance the two great enslavers.</div><div><br></div><div>11) Respect, rather than Fear, those powers greater than yourself: learn from everything that makes them so, for one day it will become necessary to dethrone them!</div><div><br></div><div>12) We Heretic Supremacists laugh: those who oppose us certainly feel the Fear deep in their chests. Can you hear their lamentations? Yet those pathetic creatures who cry the loudest accomplish the least for those who cry the loudest do so as their last resort!</div><div><br></div><div>13) Acknowledge this Heretic Supremacist doctrine of Self-Will: placate on bended knee neither man nor god, and remain free from any manner of servitude. Forever heighten the Creative attributes of Strength, Wisdom: worship the Self to reach the ideals one has chosen. The daimon erect - I am He!</div><div><br></div><div><b>------Defining Heretic Supremacy------</b></div><div><br></div><div>For the past twenty centuries, a horrible stigma has been attached to the Western mind that of Judeo-christianity. It has seeped into every crevice of our daily lives and remains there like a festering cancer. The Judeo-christian plague represents the human individual as weak, powerless, even cowardly. It strips you, the individual person, of all potential Strength & Wisdom, so that in the depths of despair, your total loss of relationship with the Self propels you to a blind faith in an external force: 'God'. This in turn creates the ignorant sheep that is ripe for manipulation.</div><div><br></div><div>Heretic Supremacy, following the example set forth by German philosopher and classical scholar Friedrich Nietzsche, proclaims the death of the Judeo-christian 'God', thus acknowledging our belief in the dualistic union of Strength & Wisdom; the Self. This Conqueror of Fear owes allegiance not to the rotten fabric of an obsolete alien religion forced on the West, but to something that he can solidly and proudly embrace. This Conqueror is He who establishes himself within himself, who controls the elements that make up his own being. This Conqueror is He who washes his hands of the contamination and recreates the world to his own liking! Opponents of this prideful and Self-empowering action will cry that we Conquerors of Fear, having 'lost' our belief in 'God', have therefore lost their foundation of 'morality' as well. Correction: we have permanently disposed of their moral illness!</div><div><br></div><div>This is order from chaos: an overcoming of the Self, a dawning of a stronger and wiser being. The Conqueror of Fear sits at the center of the Universe, His Horus head representative of the New Dawn, silhouetted by the black chaos sun, a circle at odds with the center, yet still linked to the four tiered (elemental) Earth atop which He stands (this being the Fifth, the Plateau). From the protoplasmic core, from which all things came and to what we all resolve (the simple nothingness of a nihilistic order), is derived the ebb and flow of the dual natures contained within. Within and without, Ouroboros (the dragon-snake that bites its own tail) is time and its continuing rush ever onwards, it is Draconis the Chaos Serpent of ancient times (the watery abyss - birth) and the Serpent of the Garden who imparted Knowledge of the Self, and therefore Strength & Wisdom and the Key to Glory. In these truths must we submerge our-Selves, allowing Quintessence (the Fifth Element, the perfection of Five - the Pentacle) to bathe our swooning forms.</div><div><br></div><div>After all, how can one not perceive with bitter disillusionment that human reason is powerless to justify one moral value over another, hence the swineherd's fatal addiction to religious dogma and self-destructive external obeisance? What are these 'morals' that the enemies of Heretic Supremacy so revere? Nothing but lies, compounded upon each other for centuries, so etched in our existence that we must fight even in the subconscious. So ingrained that nothing has any value, and only the might of force and violence can decide what is right.</div><div><br></div><div>We Heretic Supremacists must now find the courage ourselves to become gods in a world without 'God' - to conquer Fear and ascend towards the Plateau of Invincibility. The greatest need of civilization now is to develop a new type of individual, a Conqueror who will be hard, strong, courageous, and who will be intellectually and morally free. One who will break the stone slabs on which the old Judeo-christian moral laws are inscribed, the old life-denying moral laws to which the masses are still enslaved. The only morality of the Conqueror will be to affirm life: to be powerful, creative, joyous, and free. And as Nietzsche again counsels, this Ascendance should arise "our of my will to be in good health, out of my will to live... selfpreservation forbade me to practice a philosophy of wretchedness and discouragement."</div><div><br></div><div>We Heretic Supremacists must begin anew, we must have a rebirth. The coming millennium should be the genesis of something powerful and substantial on which a progressive people can base their lives. Ours shall be the first generation to cast aside the Judeo-christian curse of lackluster will and self-deceit, and with this blight eradicated, each successive generation will be endowed with that much more real history and experience. The Dawn of a new Age is upon us, but without the final fall of the old order, without the total cleansing of the morass into which we are currently sinking, nothing will change. The cyclical evolution of Nature demands the virtues of creation through destruction, of order from chaos, of the rise and fall of civilizations, and of the weak and obsolete falling prey to the most-able.</div><div><br></div><div>It is time to develop a Self-mastery that is the antithesis of Judeo-christian 'norms' such as charity, mercy, and egalitarianism. This Self-Mastery is the balance of both Strength & Wisdom - a discipline of polarities. Through the rigors of Overcoming, we may conquer the Judeo-christian alien self and through extreme exertions of Will achieve the highest level of performance heretofore trapped behind "moral" confines.</div><div><br></div><div>We must find the measure of all things again, the measure of the macrocosm and microcosm, the solar system above us and the world within us, the world we see in the microscope. Only then will we receive the proper sense of proportion about what surrounds us, and how we are integrated into this eternal cycle</div><div><br></div><div>We are falling in and march, according to unalterable laws, along the road into a distant future, bound by our unbreakable Bond and our Conquering Spirit. We want to believe that we are not only to be the grandchildren, who have carried on more successfully than the fathers, but also the ancestors of later generations essential for the eternal life of Heretic Supremacy. Our Self-Mastery, the Overcoming and Ascendance-Deliverance of the Conquerors of which we speak, is principally this:</div><div><br></div><div>1) The inner affirmation of struggle, even under the most difficult conditions.</div><div><br></div><div>2) The courage to face up to every eventuality without flinching. 2 Determination (not discouragement) in 3 the face of all reverses.</div><div><br></div><div>3) Our goal: Quintessential Strength & Wisdom. The way through Heretic Supremacy. The unbreakable Bond: Brotherly comradeship. Remember: above one's own advantage stands our victory.</div><div><br></div><div>4) At work or play, be hard and fair. Unleash iron discipline against those who so deserve. </div><div><br></div><div>5) Preserve iron self-discipline respecting Brothers. Always retain the lycanthropic instinct. Never evade a decision. Never back down. Show modesty in victory. Accept defeat without excuses. Learn from your mistakes. The cause of your defeat rests solely at your doorstep.</div><div><br></div><div>6) Remain true to the Eternal Quest.</div><div><br></div><div>7) Remain pure and whole.</div><div><br></div><div>8) The nature of Heretic Supremacy is this Eternal Quest for greater Strength & Wisdom. European Renaissance society viewed the combination of both Strength & Wisdom as necessary for true understanding and enlightenment, as did the ancient Greeks and Romans. It is the balance of 'opposites', the juxtaposition and interplay of diametric poles that yields true creative Self-Mastery and the Spark that kindles the Ast'r AST'R: arya serpent theos race (noble wise god race) - the Conquerors/Homodeus (man as god). Not a genetically distinct race as such, but the culmination of the efforts of the flame.</div><div><br></div><div>We torch-bearers of Reason and Progress form an elite: in order to carry the Banner of Heretic Supremacy, the Eternal Quest becomes a permanently fixed doctrine in our Promethean body-mind-soul.</div><div><br></div><div>Within our circle, comrade educates comrade and all should gain from all. The very nature of the Quest states that there is no end in sight, that there are no limitations. Always conduct oneself in adherence with our Conquering Spirit, and never forget that we have great tasks to perform. We are a tribe, a clan, a community: a knighthood from which one cannot resign and within which we remain with body-mind-soul as long as we walk this earth.</div><div><br></div><div>We are the Conquerors of Fear who have propelled the elite Ast'r through history, heaping glory upon glory on our eternal Faustian souls. When necessary, we have been Wolves in Sheep's clothing, standing among but apart from the human fray, but other times we have stood in rank with our Brothers, sillouhetted against the horizon. From the dawn of man to the coming Age, we have stood out amongst the fallen. With Self-Mastery and Vengeance we shout into the star shattered Dawn: "the beholden Spirit of Destiny - I am He!"</div><div><br></div><div>Homodeus acting in union. Also Latin, 'aster'; star (of the Microcosm, of the Conquerors).</div><div><br></div><div>-<b>------ Pearls to Swine ------</b></div><div><br></div><div>1) The world is in perpetual decay. Even words: first upon conception in the mind they seem so brilliant and unique, and when borne upon the lips into the exterior, for a moment yes earth shattering - moving mountains and fantastic thunderclaps. And just as suddenly there we are back again: yet another snowfall to slowly melt, yet another sandbar washed downstream, a beach smashed by breaking waves. In this eternal rot nothing can so satisfy the eating away of it all. The inextricable nature of the hunger - this doom - is only made bearable by song and lyric, by portrait, painting and sculpture, by that which captures the instant. All else is as a moth in the face of a gale force northern wind.</div><div><br></div><div>2) The idea of peace, that is a world without conflict, is folly. It is completely irresponsible to treat so called peacetime as anything other than a breathing space - a valuable period of time in which to refit, rearm, rethink and reevaluate the struggle at hand. Peace is merely the condition immediately following the fighting - a post or inter war lull - during which one prepares for the next.</div><div><br></div><div>3) If you acknowledge your enemy as an adder, with cunning wit and deadlier venom, then the logical means of victory for any confrontation is to step on his head to crush and kill. If you are negligent in this task, or if you injure to the edge of death, and then, through some foolhardy fog of compassion, take this serpent into your fold in the name of the supposedl brotherhood of man, you throw your winnings to the winds. For once you nurse him back to health, you can expect nothing more than to be bitten.</div><div><br></div><div>4) Fellow man: neither fellow' nor 'man'. A despicable dog I say of three varieties: a means to an end; an obstacle in one's path to be overcome; or a lone wolf, like yourself, who can be engaged in a mutually parasitic relationship. Both parties being respectfully aware of the other's reciprocal attributes, thus acknowledging the need for such a temporary union so that each may push forward on the shoulders of the other. A powerful symbiotic partnership, albeit not without a measure of mutual contempt, through which the fierce competition and combination of the energies at hand benefit both participants.</div><div><br></div><div>5) have the dreams of common men at times. I dream of a face in an abyss: bestial yet familiar, a horrid personification of the failures, weaknesses and shortcomings that could be. A portent of a could be that is becoming: of realities so far from flattering that what begins as frightening makes the sickness rise in the belly. At times the visage from the vortex speaks, and I plummet screaming into the miasma of the sins of the many, of the pitfalls of the blind. Other times I purge and vomit, and the stench of nausea fires my brain. I am the gazing in, not the leering out the face in the abyss shall not usurp my all-being! And then with speed I journey from that place, but its impression. lags not far behind. Like the sharp reek of bile still scarring my nostrils, I shall not forget. Being wary of all and any grotesques lying in wait on any future paths, I forge ahead with even stronger purpose, for I know now what might have been.</div><div><br></div><div>6) The human animal has an innate propensity to destroy. Instinctual and merciless, clever and pitiless, the deeds of all men are based on a selfish will towards their own individual godhood, at the expense of all others. It is time to fully express this - our true and noble nature - in thought, word and deed. The enslavement of endearments, the infamy of compassion, and the cowardice of appeasement - no longer will we endure the visitations of these plagues. Whether this state is reached through training and indoctrination, or from the collapse of this so called society in which we dwell, the thin veneer of what is known as civilization must be stripped away and discarded. We shall cultivate the fierce, and to some the monstrous, and this feral man will journey joyously towards onslaught. A guttural laugh of victory emerging from his throat - the shout of defiance into the storm of steel.</div><div><br></div><div>7) The essence of a child is to stray: to discover knowledge selfishly and individually, devoid of any guidance save his own. Thus the iconoclast - an alternate yet respected bearer of knowledge, affinity and admiration, and representative of everything that parents are not - is the true educator of children. This rebel captain acts as a surrogate for familial tutelage, particularly in reference to that which goes beyond the norm; that which has been forbidden. Therefore, any lessons parents attempt to pass on to their offspring - morals, ideals, tradition ultimately fall short because of the very nature of their source. Only one voice will persist: that of he who walks upstream, he who fights alone against the many. His instruction will overtake all others, and before long, the damage will be beyond repair.</div><div><br></div><div>8) Action is always and everything: hard work and perseverance are to be commended, laziness and pessimistic acceptance forcibly remedied, and dull stasis put to death.</div><div><br></div><div>9) When one's retinue departs it is for two reasons: either their ears are no longer worthy of your words, or your words are not worth their time.</div><div><br></div><div>10) In all this time, it seems as if I have accumulated nothing. Indeed. It is however not about accumulation, but accomplishment.</div><div><br></div><div>11) Despite the fact that many men possess the capabilities to forge a path of their own making, most simply acquiesce to the majority's way of thinking and acting: they gravitate towards the lowest common denominator. Why? Because they can.</div><div><br></div><div>12) A weakness common among men is the willingness - the almost expedient ease - towards compromise and appeasement of their fellow man in regards to even the smallest conflict. In this respect, the stalwart truly stands head and shoulders above the rest - when he is right.</div><div><br></div><div>13) Why hope for the impossible when one can strive for the attainable?<br></div><div><br></div><div>14) Those truths that can be perceived as such become that in fact. Those that are overwhelmed are drowned: as falsehoods at worst, as irrelevant at best. It becomes clear that of the multiple choices of understanding and comprehension, men regard as truth only that which is offered them.</div><div><br></div><div>15) Failure is the willful intention not to succeed.</div><div><br></div><div>16) The inner discipline of self is the core of resistance against exterior stimuli. Yet how many of us are truly willing to embark on an incursion into our inner soul, to seek what lies within our silent minds? Could the effects of anesthetics, stimulants, and even hallucinogens be harvested from dormant gray matter by exercising one's mental prowess over so-called "reality? It certainly seems possible. By overtly pushing physical being and spatial status onto a secondary plane, one allows the power of the mind, and all its huge vistas of yearning. to become the more dominant of the two. Pain can be eradicated, sleep withstood, visions awakened, and the seemingly last reserve of strength tapped again and again! This is accomplished not by drugs, but through the concept of mind over body, of mental dominance over falsely imposed physical barriers and previously accepted normalities. The choice of discovery is yours: welter in futility and waste at the expense of your own self-advancement or establish new laws applicable to a new being!</div><div><br></div><div>17) When one teaches certain things to the young, it is not with the intent of their enjoyment, but with the intent that later in life, upon reflection, they know to appreciate what has been impressed upon them.</div><div><br></div><div>18) When sincerely rising above, it must be an actual ascension beyond one's previous mark, not merely a result of other's increasing decay.</div><div><br></div><div>19) Concerning one's dealings with those of a superior nature, it is necessary to regard them in these ways: respect, aspiration, and the trusting nobility to become a tool for their greater and perhaps unfathomable good.</div><div><br></div><div>20) The rat that questions and rationalizes its own instinct: man.</div><div><br></div><div>21) It has been stated that it is always darkest before the dawn. And so I question: what exactly is stopping us from snuffing all the light?</div><div><br></div><div>22) A simple lesson: to reckon with the knowledge that it is often necessary to burn the village in order to save it. And to loose that which resides within the heart of every man: the glad stirrings of genocide.</div><div><br></div><div>23) Perhaps what we need is not one mass conflagration, but ten thousand tiny lucifers, ten thousand matches straining to burst into flame. For despite all efforts to prevent the spread - and ultimate unity of the fires, it would be impossible to extinguish them all.</div><div><br></div><div>24) Burn, burn, burn I say, and from the cooling ashes, mix with drippings from the blooded blade, into clay. And on the potter's wheel mold, not a likeness of, but a true god in mind, spirit and body.</div><div><br></div><div>25) And not because of who we were, but for what we have set in motion for what has become. Come blessed earthshakers and those who shatter worlds: our kingdom has arrived.</div><div><br></div><div>26) To conquer or to gather? That becomes the absolute question. And the answer? To stumble and fail at greatness is far more noble than to grovel for the crumbs of another's feast.</div><div><br></div><div>27)Whether I am laying the seeds that take one thousand years to gestate and bear fruit, or whether my words are the lightning strike that boldly transforms the next decade, I care not. Only that they are heeded, understood, and necessarily put into practice by someone at sometime.</div><div><br></div><div>28) The most glorious joy: not a will be, but an is.</div><div><br></div><div><b>----The The Scent of War and Women----</b></div><div><br></div><div>1) Some days it seems that all those who surround me have their backs turned - where it seemed there were ears, there is only ignorance. A deafness unintentional, but there nonetheless. And thus my words and example go unheeded. And at other times it seems as if all are turned towards me, but only the storm of sharpening blades can be heard as they prepare to take me to the slaughterhouse. And thus my words and example go unheeded. And some days it seems to me that I was born either half a century too early or half a century too late: that I am speaking to people long since buried or to youth not yet born. And thus my words and example go unheeded.</div><div><br></div><div>2) Existence is struggle, is conflict, is warfare. We must constantly fight, not only for that which we wish to obtain, but also in order to preserve that which we have. Every day offers another challenge - another battle to fight and win - and every man around you is a potential ally or foe. Some are better warriors than others, some are better generals, and some are merely pawns... And all around are the carcasses of war: those who have been defeated and remained defeated. For defeat is normally only a stepping back, but not a stopping. However, those who have chosen to accept their setbacks as the norm - in effect refusing to fight - are nothing more than the walking dead. And we fighters should only look on with pitiless eyes, for it is their chosen fate: feeble shadows of men drowning in seas of opportunity, thrown about like the useless driftwood they have become.</div><div><br></div><div>3) What is it about the sickling that is so irritating to the healthy? Because their ailments are mostly in their heads! All of us have had mornings where one doesn't feel superb, or days when the muscles ache, or when fatigue weighs heavy on every step, but the healthy shrug it off and make the best of it - they fight through that which would drag them down. The sickling however uses every possible chance to shirk responsibility, to avoid a struggle, and even talks himself into the malady - but here I must make one thing clear, for it is rather a 'she' than a 'he': it is not unjust to say that the majority of sicklings are women.</div><div><br></div><div>4) When raindrops become a thunderstorm, and a slight breeze a hurricane; when a chill in the air is undoubtedly arctic, and the rays of the sun are both blinding and burning; when a flight of stairs becomes a mountain - and a mountainside impossible and any ache or pain is surely life threatening, or if not that, at least enough to stay bed ridden for a day or two, one has discovered a certain variety of woman. The type to avoid at all costs, the one for which the frail sex was named.</div><div><br></div><div>5) A modern city is like one huge living organism - all parts interacting in a seemingly chaotic fashion, but towards a unified end: that of continuance. An entity developed over time, evolved from the ebb and flow of experience and character, into the best that can be offered in relation to current environments. In this it must be said that the Ast'r spirit has made this a possibility: for what other Volk have pushed the limits of the believable and the fathomable time and again? It is in the Ast'r Volkish nature to conquer and alter his environment to best suit the sameness in all of us must be glorified and the small and necessarily superficial differences must be seen through and beyond. Dutch or Frisian? What does it matter: all are the same Volk and culture. Norwegian or Swedish: the same rule applies. English or Irish, of Scottish or Germanic or Slavic descent: and again the same rule applies. In relation to the other pigmented tribes of the world, we are all European, or offshoots thereof, and rather than belittle ourselves by highlighting paltry differences, we should extol and exalt our unique bonds and sameness - for only by doing that will it remain possible to maintain the very reason for celebration.</div><div><br></div><div>7) Strong willed and intelligent people of both sexes, when looking for a mate, should seek an equal and complimentary partner. It is always rutting season, and one must remain awake at all times: power attracts power, beauty attracts beauty, fitness attracts fitness, and intellect is drawn towards intellect. Choose only with these characteristics in mind: by following one's own path, and pushing forward at all costs, one will not only leave the competitors of one's own sex behind, but will attract the very ones sought after from the other. For it is not about searching for a mate, but simply about selecting the proper match from the bees swarming around the honey pot.</div><div><br></div><div>8) A man should use proper judgment within whom and when he spreads his seed. Casual copulations notwithstanding, he should wisely choose and select with care the receptacle of his agent. This woman should be one of healthy stock, clean complexion, solid constitution and right mind. And measures should not be carried out in order to prevent impregnation, but rather to induce it - to cleave the egg with the most promising sperm to be offered.</div><div><br></div><div>9) For what good does it do to always gaze into the past of the glorious days of former civilizations, of great men and their deeds? These days are no longer: all that concerns us is the present and more importantly, the future. We may take lessons from the past, and examples, but those things that make up history are unique to their particular times and places - they will never be replicated. Therefore, the greatest error is to attempt to recreate that which was rooted in another place and time. These actions are ultimately doomed to failure. But most humans cannot rise above the backwards gazing somnambulism. </div><div><br></div><div>They view the past as a goal to attain for the future, and so are condemned to repeat and repeat and repeat... If one is only aware of what is presented to him from a gaze into the past, then they will find it impossible to go forward. One cannot progress while walking in reverse. A seemingly perverse yet honest logic dictates that running forward blindly is better than walking while seeing backwards. Indeed, the prize goes to the brave, to those who risk... For even if one falls off the impending cliff, at least they have met a respectable end and not an ignorant one. And eventually, enough of the future minded ones, enough runners, shouting warnings to their comrades, and shedding light where it is deemed necessary, will plot a new course that will be both forward looking and free of pitfalls and false ends.</div><div><br></div><div>And what great Avatara, dipping his hands into the entrails of a disemboweled world, and discerning from the roasting bones, could not evoke a vision and fulfill the very prophecy spoke thereof? And that shall be the beauty of it: for him who sees what needs to be done to be the same being who acts upon it. <div style="text-align: center;">
One of the better bands of its kind. Fragarak has made some drastic changes to 'A Spectral Oblivion' compared to their predecessor and the band did really need to do much. Last year's album is still stunning and now its a little more amazing. Their focal idea for the concept of the album was to reveal the darker realms of human thought patterns and create an empathetic outlook on mental illness. I recommend, hear the album devotedly as the men from Fragarak can excite your sense of adventure and tempt you to expand your horizons. Now, they might be feeling quite pleased with how they handled the album and is a motivating factor in choosing what they must do next, rather than performing endless analysis by planning for every possible contingency. Self-reflection is very precious in the realm of grotesque art. A quote, "Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow''. </div>

To list out my favorite metal albums is always going to be a subjective exercise. Rather than list a "top ten of the best" Black Metal albums, I'm going to list bands that I find to be important to BM music. Forever indebted to their significant albums for helping me go through some of the unilluminated phases of my life. Today, even after all these years, nothing has changed. Still sounds pristine. Worshipping of total darkness, death and all its powers<br />

<u>No f'ing real order.</u> - Abigor, Mayhem, Burzum (from the raw demos to 1999 release), Deathspell Omega, Ved Buens Ende, Blut Aus Nord, Dodheimsgard, Katharsis, Mortuary Drape, Necromantia, Darkspace and Dissection.<br />

Acherontas continue to get better with age. They belongs to the few who have always allowed the art do the talking and kept other artefact firmly in the shadows. Kudos to their staunch hearts and fearless mind. All their works are a compendium of their attentiveness towards esoteric philosophy. Engrossing in the mysticism and conjectural abstraction of history and the occult.<br />

For many blerts, the diabolical music may be just another provenance of entertainment. That's not a dis, exactly. As I grow older, I have come to understand clearly that some extreme metal records work differently for me. Is utterly unimpressed with just about everything and everyone, with very a few exceptions. I think, there's a cut-off point in life till which period you absorb everything and after that point, your brain stops being ultra-sponge it was. Okay, the difference between ''Leytmotif Luzifer'', ''Liber Lvcifer I'' and ''Catechesis'' is refinement, not the quantitative difference in BM realm.<br />
<div>
<i><br /></i></div>
<div>
<i>Catechesis </i>strikes ahead with unswerving intensity. No fantasy, just absolute devotion to the black arts. It inspires fear instead of immediate affinity. It explicitly defines, what Satanic hymns are all about. MZI and Amon are the devoid of false ego and firmly believe that those hymns come not from that duo, but through them. That's Lucifer's gift to the few chosen superior humans who venture into the burning path in this wretched world.<br />

Since their appearance in 1999 and ascendancy to power in 2012, Semjaza, the leading light of the band, formulated a vision with the aim revealing constant aspect of Luciferian doxology in accordance with His interpretation of immanent Luciferian beliefs and doctrines. In the brief span of three years, from 2012 - 2015, Thy Darkened Shade, however, strife against the odds and gained strength as the years wore on. TDS is a holy act which delivers Satanic art of the highest order. They're consistent with the Dark Gods. They speak His true name with an act of art, an art of Great Opposer. One of the few bands I sincerely respect and appreciate.<br />
<br />
2012 – “Eternvs Mox, Nex Ritvs”. Its impressiveness is to pull together its countless raw yet technical black metal with an old-school atmosphere, shaping itself into a coherent whole. Aurally engaging without doubt for all the experimentalism in its execution makes a totally demanding album for those extreme metal cognoscenti and aficionados. It made me ecstatic the same way “Pure Holocaust” did. Raise the chalice of blood to EMNR.<br />
<br />
2014 – “Liber Lvcifer I - Khem Sedjet”. It is a very imposing and striking album. The whole album rules. Darkness and danger are what we can feel in every pick and every hit. It did activate every single one of my pleasure centres the way Mayhem's début album did. It may not be a relevant comparison, but it is nonetheless potent stuff. This album will win over time. Life is a privileged experience when one has the opportunity to listen to albums like this. Sometimes, extreme metal music isn't just about macabre notes or bloody screams but also about the time its from.<br />
<br />
2015 has been a triumphant year for TDS. “Liber Lvcifer I”'s double vinyl and a unique tape edition is now available through WTC Productions. Besides, Chaos Invocation and Thy Darkened Shade have decided to do a split album titled ''Saatet-ta Apep''. It’s circling about the enemy of Ra, depicting their vision of set invoking Apep. Its cover art is done by Karmazid and it’s a sight-worthy. Let the chaos thrive. Forbye, a four way split release brewing in darkness. Withal, Thy Darkened Shade have announced their first live ritual, as support for Dødheimsgard and initiated by the Greek Occult Ambient band Shibalba. It will be held on 13th of November, 2015, in Athens, Greece. Hail comrades, make a point to catch this fest. Meeting in person and commune with an anti-cosmic Satanist like Semjaza would be a surreal experience not for commons but for fervent wights to incite their inner black flame. On 13th November, the black flame shall set the world on fire! HAIL KAOS!<br />
<br />
Glorifying acausal energies: Here's a voiceless magniloquent by Semjaza.<br />
<br />
<b>You have time to go a lot deeper into the process of writing and recording the next album. I am not quite sure what the next album will be like and how many songs will it contain, but I’ll never be failed to gauge the greatness of your works as Thy Darkened Shade is growing together with and inside of you. Your jnana and bhakti to the Devil are the two paths to the absolute. You are passionately following what you do, and are soaring high every day with your hard work. O my brethren, I wanted to express my desire to listen to more from TDS in the near future.</b><br />
<br />
Salve Sathanas, thanks for the words. I am always channelling new hymns of Luciferian might; it is my duty to do so, since they highly correlate with my path and my aims as His child. I compose music for my personal reflection for plenty of years and I felt from “Eternvs Mos, Nex Ritvs” onwards that it was the time for the most serious manifestation of what I call Acausal Necrosophic Black Metal both musically and ideologically. I understood my ego was a serious problem that was keeping me unawakened, thus the venom of Samael poisoned the ego and Semjaza brought light and showed me the way; I had the urge to burn my old skin. I've composed plenty of hymns, I need to further channel my true Self into them and invoke holy chaos into what it is going to be perceived as black metal albums.<br />
<br />
Nowadays, I am working on new tracks for our next grimoire but it is too early to say something about it apart from the fact that it sounds like a more abyssic version of the classic TDS sound. One thing is for sure, the next album will be closer to Azoth, I will be closer to my true Self, I will strive for greatness again. Stagnation isn't synonymous with Satanic art and indeed it is a task to do something different from “Liber Lvcifer I: Khem Sedjet” but we will do so. I can’t say better than “Liber Lvcifer I” because all of our works are steps leading to the black sun and are equally important for my spiritual development. But our next chapter should be different and perfect; I am easily fed up with bands that produce the same albums over and over again. “Eternvs Mos, Nex Ritvs” and “Liber Lvcifer I” are different, while one can feel the same fire that emanates our spirits.<br />
<br />
<b>There will be a split release with your brothers Acrimonious. It will be a concept wise release circling around Goddess Naamah and Zoroastrian Satan. Acrimonious and Thy Darkened Shade, both share the same characteristic traits, especially regarding faith and aspect of Luciferian manifestation. Dark Ideology and black metal are a nearly perfect symbiosis. Strong individuals like this are able to collaborate, inspire and work together effectively to produce something that is other-worldly, but what are the paths that you travel with Acrimonious that you don’t with Thy Darkened Shade? Can’t wait for “Eleven Dragons”. Besides, give me the recording information about the parturient split release, if I am not very inquisitive.</b><br />
<br />
We have been talking about this release for some years now. Acrimonious and Thy Darkened Shade originate from the same chaotic currents of the abyss and even though exoterically this release will be regarded as a split release, we already knew beforehand that we were always bonded by fire and blood. As you stated, Thy Darkened Shade and Acrimonious are really close spiritually, our brotherhood is stronger than ever and our bond is carved in our blood eternally. Our aims as children of fire are the same, in exoteric words can be described as burning everything to the ground and leaving nothing but ashes while striving to become one with the acausal realm of the Ancient Ones. We discussed about the concept release but there is no need to further analyse this holy work now. As soon as we receive the revelation, it will be unleashed to the filthy Malkuth to curse and bless accordingly; the Gods can command for a different ritualistic manifestation than the one we previously discussed, it is not for us but for Them! To quote an inspirational Satanist, <i>“He who stands atop the highest pyramid of skulls can see the furthest”</i>. There are indeed different expressions in these bands but they can only be described in terms of sound since the ideology and the path that we walk are the same. I am really looking forward for Acrimonious to finalise “Eleven Dragons”, the album sounds highly inspirational at the recording stage, it links all our releases together and goes deeper into the fires of Sitra Achra and the current of the 11. Hail Azrt!<br />
<br />
<b>Is there anything you would love to do in your coming years apart from TDS?</b><br />
<br />
The single and most important endeavour is to be one with acausal realm, therefore everything that is linked with this endeavour is holy and really important for me and my antibeing. My life is about the glorification of the One, Satan's will is my true will and fulfilling my wyrd is for His eternal reign. I have to release two books of the Order of Promethean Fyre and dive into gnosis that few will ever wish to dive, for my own (in)sanity. As you can realise, this is more than challenging, self-altering and dangerous task, aiming to completely kill the ego, in order for Him to appear, no safe wannabe LHP here. Also, I am really looking forward to record new grimoires with Acrimonious and Cave amongst other sinister tasks.<br />
<br />
<b>“Eternvs Mos, Nex Ritvs” is one of the best black metal albums. Cliché words. But really a killer release epitomizing the spirit of the underground. The first thing I've noticed was the drums. Simon-pure and its proclaiming tradition as it's not that different from what I'm used to listen in “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas”, “Apokalypse”, “Pure Holocaust”, “Domination” (Morbid Angel) and “Scarlet Evil Witching Black” etc. Not really a relevant comparison but that intense and genuine stuff... All the while brimming with a chaotic spirit that isn't that common in modern black metal albums. I actually wish more bands had adhered to a style like this, not with the same impoverished tonality, but just given their style more character.</b><br />
<br />
Interesting that I am deeply connected with all the albums that you state. Indeed, “Eternvs Mos, Nex Ritvs” and Thy Darkened Shade stand for the idealization of real old-school black metal. When I say old school black metal I don’t mean the mindless ripping off from Burzum, Darkthrone, Celtic Frost or Bathory that a lot of people consider as old-school playing, but building an individual sound while honouring Satan. The most important influence of all is the link with the acausal and the ways of becoming aligned with the abyssic dimension. These ways are revealed and are not consciously pushed to be revealed according to my way of recording; planning kills the neither-neither state that I wish to summon with TDS, it is far beyond conception that my mind should go, into the endless nothingness and return with the precious gifts of chaos. That's one of the reasons why I never know how the next Shade album will turn out until it is done; the process works for me only that way.<br />
<br />
<b>How did you partnership with WTC Productions? I presume, there was an intense discussion on all levels, musically and spiritually then did they provide the budget to produce “Eternvs Mos, Nex Ritvs”?</b><br />
<br />
We finalized “Eternvs Mos, Nex Ritvs” and then we sent digital promos to some few labels. WTC was among the few labels that we wished to be part of and I was extremely happy that they liked the album as much as we do. WTC has released many of our favorite releases and at that time there was out the demo of Ascension (“With Burning Tongues”), which is one of my best demos ever. There is not really a discussion with Sven when we release albums, he completely believes in our ability to channel His magnificence into sonic rituals of fire. We are just doing what is needed to be done and that means total isolation and hatred towards the mundane world while staring inwards. I always do a really detailed pre-production before the actual recordings, I also master this pre-production in order to avoid any mistakes in the production phase of the album. Sven is one of those who listen to the pre-productions beforehand, so he knows what to expect. We are extremely grateful for our cooperation; WTC really supports us in all ways possible. Hail WTC! Hail Sven! Hail Luror!<br />
<br />
<b>I don’t see a big difference between being signed or independent because genuine bands like TDS create music for yourselves and release it for the people who believe in your music. Whereas I ask you, when you decide to sign a label, how much does the sales potential mean to you?</b><br />
<br />
I care to have the support I need, in order to create and release Holy works exactly as I envision them, which means top quality in all levels. I cannot compromise with anything less than top quality; I am bored easily with bands that don't give their craft the appropriate attention. For me the lyrics, the artwork, the editions and everything around Thy Darkened Shade are equally important with the music and are holy, therefore, I approach all these aspects with the utmost of respect. I recreate acausal black metal for the Dark Gods, my rituals are an offering to Them and my albums are a mirror of my development towards His thoughtless light. Even if one person will sense his/her black flame and begin the journey towards the everlasting freedom, then I will be proud. It is always great to connect with people that can feel the fire and always an honour to know that these people are listening to our sonic rituals.<br />
<br />
<b>I am very fortunate to interview with Sven Zimper a year ago. Sven is a very unusual person even among the many unusual people in the scene. He’s very experienced and sets high standards and ethics when it comes to running a label. The aesthetic of WTC is heavily reliant on enrichment the underground scene. Yes, it’s all about attitude and values. How do you view the future of working with Sven? Besides, are there any unreleased tracks from past that you might release in the future?</b><br />
<br />
Sven is an individual who can totally understand what a real black metal band is all about, he is also the main man behind the cult act Luror, which is the best thing you need from your “label boss”. The future working with Sven will be as always great, third album is not going to happen anytime soon but some releases will be out most probably before that.<br />
<br />
There are plenty of unreleased tracks and even unreleased albums, some of them will be released while others are better to stay at my dungeon. I recently rediscovered some old ‘’forgotten’’ finalized Shade pre-produced tracks that were buried by time and dust and somehow connect all of our works, even the works that we never released. These tracks are really inspiring and crucial for the development of TDS, they are also different from what we did before and are connected together in mysterious ways. I am planning to record them sooner or later and unleash a release of these tracks before the third album.<br />

<br />
<b>Thy Darkened Shade is not a technical or studio focused band, but a holy act which deliver Satanic art of the highest order. TDS has been processing some kind of experimenting black metal which is partially compared to some Greek and Swedish BM besides tending to remind of Abigor/Thorns in some parts as for the influences. I request thou, You seriously need to consider playing live, considering Elixir of Azazel, Or She-ein bo Mahshavah, Drayishn-I Ahriman O Divan and Liber Lvcifer would work really well in a live environment with its contrasting build ups and thunderous segments, which can stirs the imagination of the people and inspires fear and danger in maffick. Performing music is a ritualistic act.</b><br />
<br />
Composing is identical with invoking for me. I don't view Shade as a technical band either, even though our compositions are difficult to be played, thus some regard them as progressive kind of playing. For me it is a trance kind of playing. Thy Darkened Shade's performance is ritualistic and has nothing to do with empty notes. Rituals in live settings are going to happen really soon and the playlist consists of a balance between “Eternvs Mos Nex Ritvs” and “Liber Lvcifer I”. We will dedicate our rituals in the name of Qayin, magical and unique the incantations should be.<br />
<br />
<b>You've always had an interest in the esotericism as there is more out there than human senses are able to detect and comprehend. You try to cram too many ideas into one point and you do have the technical aptitude to execute your sonic visions, but TDS is not a one-man project as the other members of the band, including Vamperess Imperium, must have a heartfelt connection with one another, and it serving as an important stepping stone in your personal musical evolution with Thy Darkened Shade.</b><br />
<br />
Vamperess Imperium is not a member of Thy Darkened Shade but she is my Scarlet Woman, my magical companion in this earthly existence and beyond. However, she is also one of the founder members of the Order of Promethean Fyre and she is working with Thy Darkened Shade as a graphic designer/visual artist, I really believe her work is one of the best I've seen in my life. Our spiritual bond is of SamaeLilithian blood and thus, her input is vital, inspirational and magical. We work closely and she summons the energies that we aim to summon via astral sabbats, sigils, invocations, Luciferian revelations and endeavours better unspoken. Now she is doing the artwork for the new Acrimonious album and it looks amazing and totally inspirational, the cover is one of the best covers in this genre! Hail SV131!<br />
<br />
<b>One striking aspect I have impressed is The A’s virile vocal parts which are really praiseworthy</b>.<br />
<br />
Thanks, me too actually, he really surpassed himself, another indication that he is channelling the quintessence of Satan.<br />
<br />
<b>The culmination of your music is not only aim to revive the real essence of 90’s black metal but also attaining satanic art of the highest order. What I am really interested in Thy Darkened Shade is that its aesthetic is profound and intensely studied lyricism. It’s not music that defines black metal really. There is a challenge in it methinks. How do you try to understand the revelatory perspective for each lyrics for the listener and reader to explore deeper into? Or, don’t you have the intention to make your creation comprehensible for everyone? However, many people don’t read the lyrics yet they do get into the music.</b><br />
<br />
Again, I totally agree with you, black metal is not about music, it is something much deeper than music, this divine artform for me was (and still is) something much more valuable than anything else (there is no black metal without the Left Hand Path and the LHP for me is the only reason to live). When I was younger, I was refusing to speak with anyone that wasn't aware of the grandiosity that this divine “movement” can produce in the psyche of the individual, I was also terrorizing people who were not worthy of listening to black metal. But the most important thing was, back then, I wasn’t even really aware of how grandiose this movement can become, I was still trying to grasp the magnificence but the Luciferian glimpses were there. Black metal derives from the beyond and channels the beyond; it has nothing to do with rock stars, people who need fame and money, regular mundane dudes, losers, wimps, weaklings, regular musicians or anyone like that. Black metal shall be the ultimate weapon of acausal freedom, the channel of the Self divine and the quest for the ultimate gnosis. It is not a coincidence that all the real masterpieces that left their mark on this genre dealt with the abyssic dimension and nothing else (of course this includes endeavours that need many deaths in order to be fully understood). I can understand and appreciate good art regardless the concept but speaking about black metal and ignoring the spiritual background, is like speaking of classic rock and ignoring that this music needs drums, it is really that simple. What a lot of the mainstream magazines promote as black metal is nothing but an empty version of notes with no real substance behind the music. One of the saddest of things is that many of those who revolutionized this genre became slaves to the system that they hated and forgot the most important values of this genre. It may be due to the fact that a lot of them nearly destroyed their lives because of their ideals but that’s the point, black metal expands, the ideology expands, the understanding expands and this is because Luciferian wisdom is all-expanding, pan-dimensional and brings the most valuable of masterpieces to this holy genre. It is really important for the future to propagate what this ultimate movement can become. It took us many years to understand and grasp the magnificence that black metal really can produce and we should continue exploring it and expanding it. <u>Black metal is Holy because it derives from the Gods, not from the people.</u> Fuck all the divas, it is for Him, not for the humanoids, black metal listeners should stop worshiping idols, they should start worshiping the everlasting stream of chaos that derives from the acausal realm of Tiamat. If the listener wishes to dive deeper into our music he/she will find something that is much more valuable than anything else; a source of everlasting fire that is not of this world but goes before time, before cosmos, before all illusions. If he/she aims to reveal the true Self and erase the mundane notions of what the delusional personality is really about, then Thy Darkened Shade will be the perfect sonic ritual. If not, this is not a problem either, the mantras, sigils, rituals of fire and the channelling are doing their works in the shadows and in the shadows the Dark Gods are always lurking, waiting to enslave the ego and absorb the prana. My intention is only to unveil my true Self and glorify His name but this can be discussed until the end of times.<br />
<br />
<b>You follow many thoughts according to Old Persian as well as Zoroastrianism worship and regard them as worthy areas of study and respect. When I began collecting questionnaire data, I had received the impression from the lyrics. You emphasis Zoroastrianism but from your point of view. Zoroastrianism differs from the other monotheisms is in its conceptualization of the genesis of Satan. Mainstream Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all view Satan as a fallen angel who was cast out of heaven. There are still people who believe Satan belongs to Christianity. Would you agree if I say that you develop your own ideas and understanding of Satanism under proper guidance but without influence, and you gear toward the spiritual exploration and practical development of the Art of Magic, rather than the sociological and philosophical aspects of Satanism?</b><br />
<br />
I regard all religions of the world as really crucial for study, especially the main religious texts of every religion are really important for my own development. Lucifer lurks everywhere and His manifestations are countless, it is up to us to unlock the gates to His kingdom. Satan or Lucifer belongs to the acausal universe and these are only two of His countless names, Ahriman or Angra Mainyu are others. Chaos is everything, my God is much older than religion but my God left His guidance in all religions, we must follow Him into the pits of hell and receive the gnosis that offers in all His manifestations, thus it is crucial to go deep and explore each chthonic pantheon of every religion. My understanding stems from practical Prometheanism which is an amalgam of various schools of LHP but has a Chaognostic approach and derives from my wyrd alone. I don't really feel that there is any philosophical/sociological aspect of Satanism since philosophy and sociology are mundane terms. The only aspect that matters to me is the acausal energy that we can draw into our own beings to become like Vindex in the world of leeches. Followers shall follow and they will see the light of truth as terror rather than bliss. Indeed, I focus on spiritual exploration that derives from personal practice and study.<br />
<b><br /></b> <b>Your mind is disciplined and trained via various exercises adapting to the perception of the Luciferian jnana and the spiritual path to acquiring real power and wisdom. What is the first step if I try to search inside myself and trying to develop my own path into magical currents I want to explore? May be through a path of self-actualization or simple and ascetic way of living. I do rely on the internet for information. But there’s never a guarantee that information online is accurate but I firmly believe these things ought to be learnt through direct interaction in Guru-Sishya mode.</b><br />
<br />
I always believed that the most important step towards magical wisdom is the communication with the Higher Self, which is the opening of the eye of Abaddon. This thought makes the practitioner go deeper into his/her Luciferian will and links his/her essence with the Dark Gods and the lineage of Qayin. Currents and magical orders can help but if someone isn't able to sacrifice his ego in the altar of becoming, nothing will come out of that. But yet again, the practices are really known in this era and time and it is rather true that Higher Self revelations cannot happen before real invocations occur, before real meditations occur, before kundalini awakes and unites the red and the black snake, before sigil charging, before astral absorption of prana happens or before shape-shifting occurs. It is therefore crucial for me to focus and dedicate our lives to the path of becoming, because it is the only path where freedom awaits the ones with the blood of Ahriman. Higher Self revelations will further guide the practitioner into the depths of inner alchemy and lapis philosophorum. We must summon the Higher Self and then the wyrd will be revealed and Set-anic wisdom will come in multiple ways.<br />
<br />
<b>Is there something deeper with the title, “Narrow Fields of Life”? When I listen to it, I am not just listening to it but internalizing the manifestation of the metaphysical level but can’t reach to it.</b><br />
<br />
Life is a delusional state of various random pseudo-events that the mundane conceives as reality due to his total confusion by in turn boycotting the reality of the shadowy anti-world. “Narrow Fields of Life” is a hymn of cosmic destruction and glorifies the eradication of anything mundane amongst other things that shall be revealed to those wishing to dive deeper. The ego is a total illusion; the notion of the personality is as close to real psychological illness as one can get (the illness of the soul and not the illness of the mind that cosmic psychology stands for). What is more delusional than the fake identities that all humanoids proudly claim they possess?<br />

<b>What I am impressed about LLI is that you gave the right amount of suppleness in the compositions that makes LLI appears truly UNFORCED. Definitely, you could contribute something great to black metal. A traditional touch in all songs, yet retain a unique personal touch of your own because it’s all based on creative influences rather than imitating existing materials. This is the true essence of BM ‘old school’. What can you tell me about your studio experience with V. Santura at Woodshed Studio? I presume it was quite suitable for your needs like recording at own studio gives the luxury of unlimited studio time.</b><br />
<br />
Thanks a lot, it is true that “Liber Lvcifer I” is completely unforced, I was experiencing the real definition of “artistic” freedom, I was doing exactly what my true will was dictating me and nothing less. There were neither pre-determined notions in my mind nor rules to follow, just chaotic death worship. This is why the outcome is unique in all levels; because there was no one to follow apart from Him and His guidance towards my union with the waters of Nun. This is the ultimate sonic way of expressing my black flame that I have known until now. We recorded in both my own studio and in Woodshed studios and obviously we had all the time we needed to finalize the album. I did a really detailed pre-production of this masterwork, which actually was in the working process even before “Eternvs Mos, Nex Ritvs” was released. Working with V. Santura was great, he perfectly understood what I needed for this album and we will collaborate on future works for sure, <u>he already did the mixing-mastering job for our track in the 4-way split release with Abigor, Mortuus & Nightbringer and I can assure you it sounds great.</u> Speaking about the aforementioned 4-way split, the procedure was really inspirational and deep in all levels; expect a future classic black metal release exclusively.<br />
<br />
<b>“Liber Lvcifer I” truly is one of the finest displays of musicianship and song writing acumen ever put to recording. You offered more than what beats in your chest to this album. Damn, words narrow its might. I cannot express how deeply embed this album lies within my heart. There are eleven hymns on the album, does that connect to anything? Because, eleven is a number of anti-cosmic Chaos. Besides, it stands for lawlessness, freedom, formlessness and the breaking of the closed circle. Your deep knowledge of arcane practises coupled with your unflinching dedication added a touch of brilliance to “Liber Lvcifer I”.</b><br />
<br />
Eleven is a holy number, it symbolizes our ascension towards the thoughtless black light and our close relation with Qliphotic magic and the awakening of the 11 headed dragon AZRT among other practices! Indeed, it is linked with total and real freedom, Universe B, the path of Nod which further guides towards eternal destruction.<br />
<br />
<b>“Black Light of Sitra Ahra” and “Holy Lvcifer” have a peculiar charm and song writing quality that really stands out among the rest of album catalogue. Adroitly done. These interludes should not be dissected and analysed as it’s something to be felt and something abstract that deals with inner emotions. But when you choose the song titles, were there any additional significance to them?</b><br />
<br />
There is nothing more significant than vibrating the name of Lucifer, which is Holy and is the only reason to live and breathe. The black light of anti-cosmic magic will guide us into the beyond, to fulfil our immortal quest and enter the black sun, to be Self-created like our father Lucifer and become in the likeness of our Dark Gods in the acausal anti-universe. The black light of Lucifer is the only light that shines, the only true light that the blind see as darkness.<br />
<b><br /></b> <b>A special mention for Magus Wampyr Daoloth. He played his parts with aplomb. “Daemon Phosphorus” is tremendously engaging, later it reaches a greater section, while upholding its intrinsic values. You are indeed proud for that collaboration beyond any shadow of a doubt.</b><br />
<br />
I grew up with Necromantia, I listen to them since I was really a kid and it is a special honour for me to have the voice of Magus Wampyr Daoloth in one of our tracks. I consider Necromantia as one of the most important bands from the 90s. It is really important for me that after 2 years, <u>I still wouldn't want to change even a single detail on “Liber Lvcifer I”, from the production to the composition, performance and the artwork, I learnt a lot from this album.</u><br />
<br />
<b><i>The voices preach the swords of fire bringer Lucifer and the tongues declare the rise of Goddess Naamah.</i> “Elixir of Azazel”! Ah! Its supreme art. The lyrics define the whole atmosphere of this song, the mood and the direction. You have portrayed an extraordinary expression of brevity and felicity on “Elixir of Azazel”. It’s pulsating the luciferian energy. I say again that there is no other BM release in recent time that sounds enthusiastic like this. Can you articulate the internal and external motivations that gave rise to this hymn as “Elixir of Azazel”?</b><br />
<br />
“Elixir of Azazel” cannot be described in human tongues; in an ecstatic version of death posturing I cannot really remember, I could only channel His might. For it is His fires that guide hands to write, compose and become.<br />
<br />
<b>The craftsmanship in “Or She-ein bo Mahshavah” is almost flawless. There can’t be two opinions on this track as its vast musical acumen and chaotic reverberating tone. The thought behind this song is about Sitra Ahra as we view it as ‘The Universe B’. It venerates Lucifer as the highest manifestation of the path of Black Light, and everlastingly rejecting the structures of cosmic laws. Isn't it “Or She-ein bo Mahshavah” implies on the surface symbolically?</b><br />
<br />
“Or She-ein bo Mahshavah” derives from the teachings of Nathan of Gaza, it is a core concept of our practice and the teachings of the Temple of the Black Light. The black light of Lucifer is the thoughtless light that builds the Qliphotic anti-worlds with infernal power, in order to destroy the Sephirotic worlds and receive the final gnosis of Death (Daath) until our eternal acausal reign. The lyrics are there to enlight those who wish to dwell deeper into our working towards Sitra Ahra/Universe B. Hail Lucifer, the bringer of black light!<br />
<br />
<b>What is your fundamental thought of your spiritual studies? Besides, where did the journey in practise of Left Hand Path begin for you and how would you describe your life before that?</b><br />
<br />
Without practice and without real results there is no path, we must see with our eyes, feel with our hearts, and hear with our ears Lucifer's glory and we must eradicate the delusional gods of pseudo-light. Concerning my passion with darkness, I can't really remember when it begun because it had been always there and that's why I felt really close with metal music since the elementary school years. My conscious passion for the LHP initiated from a really young age but back then the sources were really few, I wasn't able to grasp or acquire the knowledge that I needed, I was still a dabbler but thirsty and devoted for the knowledge of the snake. There were no occult book shops close to my place in order to buy what I wanted, no internet to purchase books from abroad, just letters and communication with some few of the blood and some really few books. However, the understanding in such deep matters in young ages cannot be anything better than dabbling anyway. But there was something really important, the urge to become something else, the fire that burns everything to the ground, the fire that led me to the path of Nod which I identified as the black flame years later. <u>Black metal and devotion to metal in general, were really important for the awakening of the Promethean fire within.</u> “Seventh Son of a Seventh Son” and the Aleister Crowley references on that masterpiece led me to a treasure of knowledge and the quest for the ultimate wisdom. Furthermore, my huge passion for Mercyful Fate/King Diamond also helped a lot in the early years; Dissection, Necromantia and Norwegian black metal, Abigor, all of them were influences towards my awakening. My being before practising the ways of the ancient gods was driven by metal fire and passion that led to something much greater so, I value it because it led to the greatness of Satan. I realize though that it was nothing compared to what it is now and what it can further become. I have the need to praise death, personality is not important, I should praise the everlasting stream of the waters of Nun, until I become one with it, I condemn my ego and everything that comes with it.<br />

<br />
<b>The Hindu tradition is rich with mythic figures of divine, or semi divine, superhuman nature. Here demons are hierarchically ranked in various cosmic layers. Demons that belong to the lower part of hierarchy are demonic, dark beings, such as the Asuras, who are always adversaries to humankind. Raksasas are demons who embody various hostile animals (snakes, vultures, etc.), are identified with spirits of the night. Black metal has one purpose only – to serve Lucifer. And there’s several ways to reach ultimate Light. As a pursuer, where do you stand in Eastern tantric culture? If you stand on such matters, how did the affinity increase and I vehemently asking, anything you want to achieve surprising revelatory insights from Right Hand Path?</b><br />
<br />
The pursuit of the divine Self and the opening of nexions in Malkuth, while striving to charge the world and also charge the vessel with acausal energy is rather similar (but not identical) as a concept with the attainment of siddhis (magical powers) and moksha (liberation). It is the liberation from Samsara that we strive to achieve and become Self-created, but the direction is heading towards the black sun. It is up to the practitioner to use spiritual methods for real freedom and Luciferian individuation. The Right Hand Path can be used for Left Hand Path aims by changing the direction and the words of power of the rituals or the meditations and convert them to receive Luciferian bliss. Astrally absorbing the prana of the fake gods, vampirizing their followers and transferring the energy to the Dark Gods and the true Self, for the attainment of the true Self is the will of Prometheus. In that way, we use the Right Hand Path to achieve Azoth, the enosis of Samael and Lilith and become like Them, our gods are ancient, they derive from chaos, it is rather important to understand the difference between the ancient gods and the fake gods of pseudo-light. Freedom and godhood are the opposite of slavery and martyrdom and this is common sense, our gods represent freedom, the practitioner cannot achieve freedom and total lawlessness when he/she praises the enemy. By working with the acausal energies, we understand such things and we go deeper into gnosis and Luciferian individuation which has nothing to do with the praise of personality or any mundane notion of personal fulfilment. Actually, rather the opposite, our personality derives from the impulses of Abel, which we must kill.<br />
<b><br /></b> <b>Has this varied knowledge led you into directions you wouldn't have expected? Because, that track says, ’<i>in the innermost of revelations, the portal of Thaumiel unseals and I gaze through the eye of Lucifer. To Hearken my call and evolve, I the self-creator’</i>. Your spiritual practice experiences are unique and do lend itself to rational scrutiny that lifts you to the unspeakable plane from the mundane world experiences.</b><br />
<br />
“Or She Ein Bo Mahshavah” was a huge revelation consisting of many workings put together in lyrics; I will continue to explore that direction lyrically. To fully answer your question, the procedure of creating “Liber Lvcifer I” and “Eternvs Mos, Nex Ritvs” led me to various unexpected directions and it further aided the exploration of the abyss and my true Self. I went even deeper than I thought was possible, my works are the reflections of my path and I aim to expand each and every time, otherwise I’d rather be dead. There should be further explorations until I will ensure that total destruction will lead to Universe B.<br />
<br />
<b>“Nox Profunda” always renders me speechless. Does it deal with fiendish druj Aži Dahāka from Iranian Mythology? Besides, give me a comprehensive overview on Zahak, the son of Merdas. Would you say that you tried to interpret it all from your psychological point of view?</b><br />
<br />
This is the revelation of summoning the dragon Aži Dahāka, the son of our father Angra Mainyu/Ahriman and forever cursing Ahura Mazda and his false creation. From an initiatory point of view, Zahak became the eternal dragon by transforming himself into the immortal Aži Dahāka, whose real father is Ahriman and not Merdas. He became the eternal daeva by killing Merdas and finding His wyrd as the dragon of the other side. He guided us into the great unknown and he offered us the true gnosis of traditional Satanism, like Qayin. He is one of the most dangerous Druj and he always bears destruction to the un-worthy. Hail our father Angra Mainyu, we offer souls for your glory!<br />
<br />
<b>The impact of your studies of various esoteric doctrines into your interpretation with TDS is massive. I had to exercise the deeper and less-used parts of my brain to deeply comprehend the diligently and scrupulously lyrics you portrayed on “Drayishn-I Ahriman O Divan”. It’s related to Zurvanite Zoroastrianism, correct me if I am wrong and walk with me to comprehend the esoteric meaning of this mighty hymn of intensity of Lucifer´s flames.</b><br />
<br />
Ahriman is Satan in one of His uncountable manifestations, the opposer of Ahura Mazda and the bringer of lawlessness, total destruction, immortality and the master of the ways of the necromancer. In this immortal hymn we glorify Him and Az along with His archdemons and our eternal becoming. We summon the infernal powers of Ahriman, Aka Manah, Saura, Indar, Naonghas, Taurvi, Zairich and Az. The esoteric meaning cannot be understood with words, but can only be experienced through practise directly from the source of Chaos. The religion of slaves and the creator impulses aim to produce more cosmic slaves and extend the vermin age, while Ahriman is the awakener from the cosmic slumber and the bearer of the black flame.<br />
<br />
<b>Elaborate further on the essence of the song “Saatet-ta Renaissance”. Is it the power to explore the own subconscious and its unlimited potential? When you write the lyrics you crave for the acausal will of Azazel, it channels to some kind of energy to your creative and emancipating ways. I really wish to meet you in person sometimes as you discover the true objective of your life, is highly impressive for me.</b><br />
<br />
With deep respect we approach the fury of Apophis and the glory of Set, we should return to the everlasting waters of Nun, once and for all. Our wyrd is to bring everything back to the ultimate source of Chaos and become one with our Dark Gods eternally. Ra fears us because we are Set's revengeful children, we shall destroy forever the illusions of Ma’at; we hail Isfet and the mighty justice, which is injustice in the eyes of the blind. The Boat of Millions of Years shall be no more and Duat will shed the black light upon us all.<br />
<br />
Typhon, Erbeth, Pakerbeth, Setnakt, Bolchoseth Khesef-hra, Sekhem-hra, Khak-ab, Beteshu, Kharebutu.<br />
<br />
<b>Starts with acoustic interludes, then a morbid and serpentine melody throughout the song. Many names are hailed in the lyrics to no amount, like the calling of the eleven angels. “Liber Lvcifer” is my favourite song from the album. For some it is just music, but only for a few it is an experience…</b><br />
<br />
Thanks a lot for such words, for me Thy Darkened Shade is a constant Luciferian ritual that guides closer to Thaumiel. If the reincarnation pact with Moloch happens, Satanaamah will aid Dies Irae, until Malkuth will be no more and reincarnation will seize to exist. But that belief of ours will be further elaborated in our two books of Promethean might.<br />
<br />
<b>It’s impossible to think of LLI without that flabbergasting cover art by Vampress Imperium. As her creativity and affection for metal music is what inevitably lead to the art works of LLI/ EMNR and Sunyata. She is like the driving force behind your music (there is no creation without the female principle) which has grown and become ever more specific, with emphasis on sincerity and devotion to the spiritual traditions. The impact that the album leaves on grotesque art aficionados is phenomenal. Can you delve into more details of her? Has Vamperess Imperium involved in bands to explore her artistic excellency?</b><br />
<br />
The force behind our music and behind her artwork is the Devil. Thanks for such words; I am sure she appreciates them a lot, so do I. Only humanoids do not honour the female principle, Lilith is half of the Adversary and should be equally worshipped and glorified as Samael. Vamperess Imperium’s charisma is not of this world, she values her work in similar ways that we value our music, she is striving for freedom and real perfection which can only be achieved through acausal forms. It is the acausal energy that we strive to channel into the causal plane, until all become none and none become all. Vamperess Imperium is working on an ambient project for years now, imagine something between Hexentanz, Moevot, Aghast, The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath a Cloud and a sinister influence of ONA chants, but still really personal and deep, I will be there too charging the Ahrimanian principle while She will summon Az! Hail VS131!<br />

<br />
<b>As the album cover came up, I couldn't stop thinking of that image – A female figure with dark wings, who cries blood, bear within her the Black Flame of the Acosmic spirit in the right hand, the ring finer touches the tip of the thumb with the other three fingers stretching out… The halo around her head correlates with what? The Black Sun? I want you to enlighten me about the essence of this stupendous yet mysterious art’s theme and profundity.</b><br />
<br />
The cover depicts SataNaamah, a holy union and a manifestation that will be unveiled in the two books of the Order of Promethean Fyre, it is the union of ida with the pingala. As everything TDS related, the eyes correlate with something holier than the human mind can comprehend and signifies the abhorrence towards the cosmic order and the awakening towards the within among other holy endeavours that is for the listener to unveil. The eyes have ceased to see the cosmic plane, they see what lies behind the veils of cosmic illusion. They cry blood because they are physically destroyed, yet they see nothing and all, the eternal void of the widdershins streams of Chaos. Personal curses will be blessings indeed, opposition for us can only lead to victory and strength. The henosis between Satan and Naamah and the halo depiction signifies Self deification that the practitioner receives due to his/her dedication and enlightenment. It also correlates with Universe B and the end of Samsara, thus it conveys the ascension to Thaumiel and finally, connotes the step into the beyond. A secret revelation will be unravelled as well to those who wish to work with SataNaamah since the cover links all the Qliphotic shells together.<br />
<br />
<b>As I said earlier, the album cover art remains an indiscernible part of the album. Vehemently asking, how careful are you for physical versions of your music, now a days the packaging is vital importance for physical versions, the choice of cover artist and layouts can make heed a release. What I am saying is that if the booklet and artworks simply unimpressive, the whole impression suffers, no matter how brilliant music is. Correct me if I am wrong?</b><br />
<br />
Black metal for me is the ultimate 'art form' which in turn becomes something beyond art. All the aspects of TDS are really important and should all reflect the Dark Gods. Dark Gods’ reflection can only be perfect, there is no other option, it is a disgrace to offer Them mediocre mundane works. That's one of the reasons why I work with Vamperess Imperium, because she knows that the art of Lucifer should come from Lucifer himself and not from the hand of the artist.<br />
<br />
<b>Entering into the arena of Semjaza. We call you Semjaza, when you evoke that state from within, do you feel connected to a lineage of Dark Gods? I do wonder if many other musicians experience this. According to Hebrew Myths, by Robert Graves, Semjaza, the adversary or opposer is eternally residing in the sky in the form of the constellation Orion, hanging between heaven and earth, with his head pointing downwards. Is there any esoteric meaning to it?</b><br />
<br />
My blood is of Qayin's blood, thus I am always part of the lineage no matter my earthly or my magical name, my essence is made from His essence. I am deeply connected with the Watchers and Semjazazel, those who turned against slavery and decided to erase the demiurgic filth once and for all are the only true Gods. They teach us to choose the path towards eternal freedom and Godhood, they are Self-created and are following nothing apart from the eternal acausal will of ChaoSathanas, Semjaza found me and teached me that the only meaning of living is to worship Satan. Like anticosmic Prometheus, Semjaza is piercing the astral webs via Orion while Azazel is cursing the tree of life under the mountain of Dudael until all become nothing. For further “explanation” behind Semjazazel see Liber Falxifer II and dedicate your life to the Watchers.<br />
<br />
<b>TDS is about less style and more substance. Of course it is. You definitely work hard to get better as you delve deeper into newer terrains with your studies. I hesitate to ask some questions because I’m reluctant to immerse myself in such dark subject matters. Can you tell me about Enochian Magic and its profundity? I know that Enochian Magic is a system of magic teaching communication with angels and spirits, and with travel through different planes of consciousness. How is it possible to attain this state wherein one is fully immersed in one’s self and is able to derive total bliss in this experience?</b><br />
<br />
Attainment is deep and personal for each individual; there are paths that lead to inner alchemical transformations. These paths will further lead closer to our own higher selves, but the wyrd of each individual is different and unique. The ordeals and the hardships will always strengthen the will until the Daemonic Self appears and commands the destruction of all human weaknesses. As for Enochian magic, we know the stories with John Dee/Edward Kelley and the developments of enochian magic by Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers or Aleister Crowley. And of course, the Book of Enoch contains eternal knowledge however, we must give much emphasis on the Watchers and the gnosis that awaits those few who possess the fire of Semjazazel within their black hearts (which is the black flame of Sathanas).The eternal Watchers felt the essence of Qayin boiling inside His daughters and copulated with them, while teaching the chosen few of His lineage and the forbidden alchemy of black magic.<br />
<br />
<b>Do you have an intention of incorporating Indian instruments such as Tabla/the Sitar within the song structure in the future?</b><br />
<br />
There is no intention in what I do, I have the ultimate need to release my Azoth Self and every album is a reflection of that quest therefore, the possibilities are infinite because my Self derives from chaos. There were times that too much thought boycotted my real Self and I understood that the only way is to let chaos guide me instead of trying to guide chaos (something which cannot be done). That's why if you listen to all our works you will notice some crucial differences, we even covered the Devil's Blood and King Diamond by using only clean vocals, only the Devil knows what the future will bring for Thy Darkened Shade.<br />
<br />
<b>Your expression was of course Heavy Metal in teens and adolescent period of your life. And I think that you learned to play your instruments while covering to such Venom, Iron Maiden, Manowar songs. May be it’s a progression, skilfully. And TDS was the main band and that was where you developed your abilities into higher level. My question is in what way are you going to construct songs for the band CAVE? I mean any well-structured directions or rules you should keep for Cave? I don’t know your detailed proposal to reinforce or reinvigorate this young band. First, I thought Cave was a heavy metal band. Playing blackened traditional heavy metal band with RJD-like vocals.</b><br />
<br />
I learnt to play the guitar by covering Iron Maiden, Bathory, Mercyful Fate, Celtic Frost, Black Sabbath/Ozzy, Metallica, Slayer, Sodom, Manowar, Manilla Road, Heavy Load, Omen etc. and the classics in general and I am always hugely inspired by 80's metal fanaticism. Cave is not about traditional heavy metal, I somehow learned how to create deep spiritual music because of Cave but better not go deeper into that. Cave was formed without the need to release anything, solely to glorify the demons within and without. There are no rules in what I do, I always follow my acausal will when I create, I let myself into the everlasting streams of chaos and I let chaos flow. Cave is not an exception to that; there is a call, a certain feeling that tells me when something is for Cave, Shade or Acrimonious.<br />
<br />
<b>I am listening to 13th Moon’s “Abhorrence of Light” as I type this, and prior to that I was listening to Ain Sof Aur (Brazil). And that’s what I am interested in at this point as far as metal is concerned, quality music from quality bands. These two bands are a booming proclamation of the sparkling spirit of the underground as they've crafted excellent pieces of grotesque art on their own terms. What do you attribute that phenomenal rise to?</b><br />
<br />
I am not into those bands, I once or twice heard 13th Moon’s album and found it really good and necromantic, I need to dig deeper into those albums and then I can properly reply to this question. As for the rise of the underground black metal masterpieces, black metal is and was an inspiring force emanating from Lucifer and it will forever stay into the region of acausal fire. Real black metal will be forever an inspiring otherworldly form of Left Hand Path bliss for the few and not the masses. A lot of people grew tired of the fake values that the mainstream media promote as black metal “values” and they are turning their attention to the abyssal underground. Way too many releases deserve the attention and really few of them are not made by underground bands, Watain is one of the few exceptions of that rule, producing inspiring art for the Devil and keeping the values of the black metal essence. Watain are spreading the name of Azrt to many unaware people and I am grateful for their work. Another well-known act that I highly respect, but with totally underground attitude, is obviously Abigor, one of my favorite bands ever. Abigor deliver inspiring Devilish works, their approach is something I highly value and their thoughts highly correlate with mine, we are close spiritually and they are one of the few brother bands of TDS along with Acrimonious. Abigor were releasing also an amazing occult black metal zine called The Art of Necronomicon in the 90s. This zine captured the real essence of black death and reminds us the extremist mindset and the fire that can burn everyone; I was overwhelmed with feelings of grandeur when read this zine. Hail to my brothers until my very last breath, death to the posers and all those who insist to envenom this holy art! Speaking of underground acts, Amestigon delivered one of the best black metal albums this year and Crypt Sermon one of the best doom metal albums in years. Also, highly anticipated albums for me are the new Drastus and the new S.V.E.S.T., I am sure that these albums will bomb the fake scene. In general, too many great releases come forth from Noevdia, World Terror Committee, Dark Descent, Terratur Possessions (Sinmara's album is in constant rotation and Svartidauði's EP too), Ancient Records, Daemon Worship etc; visionary labels all of them that deserve much support!<br />
<br />
<b>You may have reached a point in your life where other band’s music doesn't influence on you as much anymore, whereas your knowledge increases and you develop more understanding of the skills of such visionary people give into their compositions. Bands like Clandestine Blaze and Funeral Presence are actually doing something utterly new and original compositions. That´s the way black metal has to be. As we know, DsO which sounds different to Katharsis to Antaeus to Ofermod. Black Metal, an extant genre.</b><br />
<br />
Exactly, and it is not a coincidence that all the bands you stated marked in a way or another black metal with their unheard and diehard devotion to the Devil. There comes a moment in time that influences are completely unimportant and the only struggle that matters is to perfectly channel the quintessence of Satan.<br />
<br /></div>

<br />
<b>However, some music continues to live forever, while something sounds very outdated like five years after its release but I find everything perfect on both albums especially the magnum opus “Liber Lvcifer I - Khem Sedjet”. I can acknowledge that I've probably written these questionnaires for my own satisfaction as I felt that “Liber lvcifer I” conspicuously elevated Thy Darkened Shade onto a visionary extreme black metal band in the underground, who have figured out the actual potential of the medium that black metal is.</b><br />
<br />
I really appreciate these words from devoted people and I ensure you that Thy Darkened Shade will continue to unleash unique perfect black metal for the Gods of the Dark.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Phobocosm are a top-notch Canadian death metal cadre, formed in 2008. Two of them play in an old school DM band called Obsolete Mankind. Also, 3 out of 4 members used to be in a band 'Vengeful' which is one of the best death metal bands from Montreal. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Band's début album ''Deprived'', has reached all over the globe through Dark Descent Records. The album sounds sludgy, doomy and partial atmospheric. Its a decent album that is worth every listen that you spend on it. They use a lot of dissonance, weird chords, unorthodox song structures in the compositions whereas they've no absolute interest in writing death metal tunes that's really straightforward because this is not S.D and company want to accomplish musically through Phobocosm. They just want to keep on exploring the darkest aspects of music and write material that's interesting to their own ears. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Phobocosm is a matured band. Its a wonderful blend of experience I think, besides, I would say, they're knocking on the doors of dominance of the grotesque art. However, a lot of works still needs to be done for the band to enter the phase of dominance completely. I do this interview with S.D, the guitarist and creator of the band. Its was conducted in October 2014.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/163323727&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false" width="100%"></iframe>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>1) Phobocosm, a death metal cadre, seems to have a purpose, it may even manifest the ideology of creators of the band. I would be interesting to know a deep insight about the artistic foundations of Phobocosm.</b></div>
</div>
<br />
S.D.: When J.S.G and I founded Phobocosm in early 2008 after parting ways with our previous band, we agreed on some fundamental concepts regarding this new project. It wasn't just a matter of getting together and playing.<br />
<br />
The first thing we agreed on was that we were going to focus on setting the darkest mood possible with our music instead of relying on speed and technique at the expense of the actual songs. The second thing was that we were going to do things differently from the rest of the death metal bands from our area.<br />
<br />
To find inspiration for this new band, I invested a lot of time in attending different types of shows, listening to dark music other than just death/black/doom metal and just thinking about ways to make us stand out among the rest of the bands around here, both live and on our future albums. In a way, to us, Phobocosm was a reaction against the general state of extreme metal at the time we founded the band. We were unimpressed with most of the bands and albums that were being released at that time and we just felt like writing music that would sound like what we would like to hear.<br />
<br />
<b>2) How was the experience and observation of facts of developing and propagating your thoughts to make the début album Deprived? I know that it was conceived, arranged and recorded in a very long time. ‘27 days of Darkness’ is one of your very oldest tracks and have been playing it live for over a year now and they got to put it onto début release. Walk with me through the different stages from the ideation to the launch of “Deprived”</b>.<br />
<br />
S.D.: I started writing for Phobocosm the day after I left my old band and I had already written more than half of a song by the time we had our first rehearsal. However, learning to play together decently in this new project and really locking in took some time, so we also learned a few cover songs to help us achieve that. I always felt that playing covers when you start a new project is crucial because it allows you to learn how to recreate an existing song with new musicians, which is something really important if your intention is to be able to replicate your own songs as accurately as possible live. It allows you to compare your own performance of the song with its original version and therefore serves as a guideline to determine how ready you really are to start playing live.<br />
<br />
At first, I wrote and recorded all of the songs on my own and I would show them to our drummer. Our three first songs were a good start, but we really found our style when I wrote the fourth one.<br />
<br />
However, I still felt that some parts were not as good as the rest of the song, so we decided to try to write our fifth song together, which is what we did with “27 Days Of Darkness” in September 2010.<br />
The song as it can be heard on the album has barely changed since we wrote it back in late 2010 and it was the first time that we were really satisfied with one of our songs. We then made the decision to scrap our first four songs and to write the entire album together. The whole writing process was done over a period of one year, from September 2010 to September 2011.<br />
<br />
We went to the studio in September 2011 to start recording the drum tracks for Deprived and we went back to record guitars and bass a few months later. However, we decided to change some guitar and bass parts, so we re-recorded them in the following months. The album was then mixed in late 2013, but we couldn't get the sound we wanted so we scrapped the first mix and decided to work with Colin Marston. We signed to Dark Descent Records in March 2014. The album was mixed and mastered by the end of May 2014 and it was released on September 30th 2014.<br />
<br />
<b>3) What do you think that how ‘Deprived’ reflects contemporary death metal scene? I mean this début album noticeably more prominent than other some ‘modern’ death metal albums followed by ginormous vocals and handful of riffs surrounded by noise.</b><br />
<br />
S.D.: From my perspective, it’s kinda hard to say. Of course, we feel a kinship with some “modern” bands, but it really depends on what you mean by “modern”. A lot of our influences are bands that could be considered “modern” or “new”, but all of them seem to have a kind of an “old-school” attitude, just like us. Our music is a product of the influence of both old and modern bands and I think that the careful listener can probably hear this.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>4) Colin Marston is a multi-instrumentalist genius who aren't afraid to innovate and keep the music fresh. Besides, simply a most talented and professional engineer who mixed and mastered this album suavely. I think production played here a big role. What was it like working with Colin bhai?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
S.D.: I would say that Colin basically saved our album because we just couldn't get the sound that we had in our heads with the previous mix attempts. We kept on trying, but it just wasn't working. Before we got in touch with Colin, we had more and more frustrated and disenchanted with our album, but as soon as he got involved, things finally started falling into place. He really understood what we were going for and made sure we were satisfied during the whole process. Of course, there are still some things I would change if I could, but we had to finish it once and for all in order to move on.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>5) Musically closer to Dead Congregation maybe, according to early conceptions of extreme metal had to be violent, brutal, blasphemic and Satanic, but lyrically the band certainly is moving away from such concepts or themes but you came up with Philosophy and Apocalypse as lyric themes. Introspective lyrics I say, song titles are pretty self-explanatory for the most part. How much time did you invest in crafting the lyrics to fit the grotesque art you portrayed in Deprived?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
S.D.: I think our singer did a really good job with the lyrics on “Deprived”. Lyrics are often neglected in extreme metal and they are often pretty silly and juvenile, but he really nailed it and we’re very proud of his work. Early on, we decided that we would use dark, philosophical and abstract themes that fit with the type of mood that we want to create with our music instead of the usual gory, satanic or blasphemous topics found in most death/black albums. Not that we have anything against those topics, it’s just that it would be hard for us to relate to that type of stuff since we don’t really feel a connection with it, so we figured we might as well write about stuff that is really interesting to us.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>6) When you have ideas for a song, you always preferred the atmosphere instead of riffs or the destructional, chaotic structure in it instead of originality? What is the key thing to create the proper atmosphere in Phobocosm’s music?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
S.D.: In my opinion, it’s important to have at least some originality in the music that you write, but some bands sound like they just want to be original at all costs, no matter if it’s good or not. I always try to include at least one or two things that are atypical in the riffing in each of our songs, but I can’t say that we really think about originality when we write music. Our main goal is to write songs that we like.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
However, if we hear a part that reminds us too much of another band, we always try to change it so that it sounds like us or we just get rid of it if we just can’t change it so that it still sounds good to us. I’d say that riffs are definitely important, but each of those riffs need to contribute in creating a dark atmosphere in our music, otherwise, we just won’t use them. We try our best to make it so that each song sets a suffocating, uncomfortable, dark or twisted mood.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>7) How complete is your next album? Give us a hint. Phobocosom would definitely work hard to get better, delving deeper into newer terrains of death metal within its boundaries.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
S.D.: We already have a lot of material for our next album. I’d say that we have about five songs that are mostly done and about three other ones that are about half-done. Our new material is more doomy and darker, but there are still a good amount of fast parts too. I’d say it’s the logical evolution of what can be heard on “Deprived”. We have a lot of new influences compared to when we wrote our first album, so of course our new songs will reflect that.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Gj-Gy4CnGgE/VMciWrlwHLI/AAAAAAAACLM/7CZeja31-Fc/s1600/phobocosm-promo--0015.tif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Gj-Gy4CnGgE/VMciWrlwHLI/AAAAAAAACLM/7CZeja31-Fc/s1600/phobocosm-promo--0015.tif" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>8) It’s really a great thing that a small/new band like Phobocosm, to be associated with Dark Descent Records. DDR is the best label around, when it comes to quality releases in every aspect, content and execution. How did you arrive at a profound conclusion that Dark Descent was the most logical option for Phobocosm?</b><br />
<br />
S.D.: I'm a huge fan of a lot of bands on their roster (especially Corpsessed, Desolate Shrine, Adversarial, Thantifaxath, Anhedonist, Krypts and Lvcifyre) and I knew they had a really good reputation, so it was a no-brainer for us.<br />
<br />
Actually, as soon as I became aware of Dark Descent a few years ago, I've wanted to be on that label and so did my band mates. We had been following the label’s growth closely when they contacted us after our first show with Adversarial in late 2012, so we kept working on our album relentlessly hoping that they would eventually sign us. They are the most hard-working, dedicated and honest label I've ever had to deal with and it’s an honour for us to be on what is arguably the best underground label right now. We couldn't be happier with their work.<br />
<br />
<b>9) And when you decide to sign a label, how much does the sales potential mean to you?</b><br />
<br />
S.D.: Of course we want to sell copies of our album, but as we all know, the situation has changed quite a lot in the last decade and a half both for bands and labels since physical copies only sell a fraction of what they used to. Nevertheless, we don’t write music to sell albums, we do it because we want to and need to do it. The exposure that being on Dark Descent Records gives us is a huge deal for us and it’s nice to know that our album is available on distros and in stores worldwide. They have a very good reputation, and given the quality of the albums they put out, they’re the go-to label for a lot of people into dark death metal that are simply looking for new bands or new albums to listen to, which is another advantage for us.<br />
<br />
<b>10) I think Phobocosm are becoming a really good live band. I am talking about recently concluded a Canadian two-day underground metal festival Wings of Metal, I think it was substantially suited to sharing the stage with a band like BÖLZER.</b><br />
<br />
S.D.: Ever since we started playing live, we've had the chance to play on really good bills alongside great bands. The Wings Of Metal festival was a very unique opportunity for us to play in front of a different audience since we usually mostly play with death metal bands whereas the Wings Of Metal bill was quite varied. Needless to say, we had a blast. The RRRÖÖÖAAARRR festival was another milestone for us since we got the chance to play with the mighty Incantation. We were also fortunate enough to play with Gorguts and Ulcerate in the last year, two of our favourite bands.<br />
<br />
<b>11) Towards the end. What is it that you have to forsake in order to give as much as possible of your time to Phobocosm? I mean, there's always something to do... What do you actually do when you're not working with the band?</b><br />
<br />
S.D.: When we’re not playing, writing or rehearsing together, we all have side-projects as well as day jobs and other hobbies. Of course, we hang out together as often as possible to listen to new albums, drink beer, etc. Being in Phobocosm takes a lot of our free time, but we are always more than willing to work hard on our music.<br />

<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
2014 was not a prolific year for me but I know its loaded with an enormous amount of big releases. I heard 100+ albums this year and avoided many. Every album that gets made, people behind it try to make the best effort that they possible can, yet most of the albums released in 2014 surrender everything I have during a first listen besides there's nothing left to engross when I listen to them again. But its pretty apparent what kind of tunes I've been digging this year. Absolute highlights for me this year are ''Enemy of Man'' and ''Nothing but the Whole''. Did I like début work of Sinmara? The Dead of the World? new Mortuus? Yes, I liked them all though have no deep impact on me. I've no best of 10 or 20 album list yet I wanted to write about the best metal albums I heard this year. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>1) Kriegsmaschine's Enemy of Man</b> - This ek'statik album leads on to a stygian voyage where inventiveness flow on. Maze of mesmerizing strokes of drumming and genuine guitar make this album an aurally delightful one that engrosses us with its enchanting beatific way. Tracks proffer plenty of unalloyed pleasures. The drumming on the album is certainly spectacular, great style and variations, besides the lyrics is another aspect adding to the total appeal of the band other than the music. I have enjoyed it immensely.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>2) Emptiness's Nothing but the Whole</b> - NbtW is their most creative album. A kind of experimental attempt which is both unique and unclassifiable. Emptiness have attained a new level of musical brilliance with this release. They just try to do whatever seems interesting to them, without thinking too much about what is going on around them and that´s the way it has to be. Emptiness wanted to make a timeless records, and avoid all clichés that would bring them down to any precise point in time. I emphatically say, Emptiness are best!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>3) Thy Darkened Shade's Liber Lvcifer I: Khem Sedjet</b> - Its brimming with subtle nuances and oodles like some classic raw BM records yet still maintain its individuality. Structurally the album sticks to heavy/old school metal feel thoroughly the record which is engrossing and entertainment same time. Its characterizing by vicious precision of the guitar riffs, ideal drums and powerful vocals all over the rush of the rhythms. This is the true essence of BM óld skool'. TDS are agile and they throw the right amount of suppleness in the compositions that makes LLI appear truly unforced.<br />
<br />
<b>4) Nightbringer's Ego Dominus Tuus </b>- ''Ego Dominus Tuus'' is chilling to the core. The indomitable strength lies in the record is unforgettable subtle riffs within the roiling mass of symphonic chaos which opulently layered with sinister atmosphere, that's the crux of the album. Hail Nightbringer. Oh black metal, what would I do without you? </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>5) Abigor's Leytmotif Luzifer (The 7 Temptations of Man) </b>- Abigor are absolutely individual and developing something new with every album and I don't call the new album is a summation of what they portrayed in the past. (I love listen to Apokalpse and LL in a row). Here we can sense a perfect production that brings out all the songs at best. Each song is structured with many variations. A sonic devotion to the Devil. What more is there to offer than them-self? This is not an album to dissect and analyse. It’s something to be felt and something abstract that deals with inner emotions. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>6) Teitanblood's Death</b> - Unmatched contemporary savagery besides the epitome of grotesque art. An apt album title. Flagrant ride of heavy blasting percussions, chaotic compositional structures, strong lyrics, good production works are the characterizations of this total annihilation. Cover art done by Timo Ketola. The imagery in some lyrics is very intense. I am thinking how amazing it would have been if they'd make a video for the track Sleeping Throats of Antichrist. Verily verily I say unto you, this is DEATH METAL.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Shine you terrible lamp of Wisdom, Shine upon the desert fields of night. </i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Shine within flesh and blackest mire, for my tongue has a dire taste for fire. </i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>I've become something that I've never dreamt of before.</i></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Perhaps I've a special liking for metal bands that abound in ideology, originality and truthful in their beliefs which are the reason why I am recommending above mentioned albums to anyone out there. Extremely memorable and near flawless albums. They all have one thing in common: they're thoroughly individual and sound very refreshing. They're actually doing something new and original music. Such intense ideologies, lyrical philosophies and musical intelligence which is not very easily available around now. Maybe, it’s not music that defines black metal. We extreme metal aficionados are a particularly well informed and opinionated lot when it comes to this extant genre. These albums that mean a lot to me. I am truly enthusiastic. Buy Cds, years later, it could be your most valuable possessions. None shall defy. Even I miss an album, impressed with the samples that I had heard from Ain Sof Aur. I can sense that Ophis Christos is one of a pleasurable albums in 2014. Probably the best black metal band in recent years!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br />
What I look forward to hearing in 2015 are Slagmaur, Amestigon and Serpent Noir. Actually, can't wait to listen to ''Erotomysticism'' as its rooted in more classical sound capes, hard rock and some occult metal sound. Daemon Worship Productions will be handled this release. Hopefully, I will get to see Inquisition and Napalm Death live in July 2015 at B'lore Open Air. You seriously cannot believe the level of chuffedness going on right now. If all goes according to plan it will eclipse it. Jesus is ideal but you Christians, you are not like him. Wishes everyone who likes that kind of a thing ''Merry Yuletide''.<br />

<b>My new interview with Wilhelm Lindh of Swedish progressive death/doom band, The Gardnerz. Some of you are aware of this band, or some you may never have heard of before. Whichever it is, I hope that you find this interview illuminating and informing. They are about to create death metal in another way and have a lot to say.</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hs-FZmtiFuQ/U4loPUHuDNI/AAAAAAAABvE/Pk4A1-7ynJM/s1600/wilhelm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hs-FZmtiFuQ/U4loPUHuDNI/AAAAAAAABvE/Pk4A1-7ynJM/s1600/wilhelm.jpg" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>
<b>I) I came to know about The Gardnerz by Transcending Obscurity, they are about to support and elevate deserving bands from obscurity around the world. How important are all these promotions to you/band personally? Besides, do you have a future plan or a strategy that should help your band to become more famous or successful? Or do you feel more comfortable in the underground?</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
<i>Wilhelm: I think this kinds of promotion is very important, I mean that is how we get the name and the music out there. Especially since we are a small band that doesn't have the resources to take out ads in big magazines and such. We are going to continue using the same kind of promotion for our next album and hopefully that will take us to new heights. For us it has been great working with Transcending Obscurity since they have spread our name in a part of the world where we were not that well known. And Kunal at Transcending has done an amazing job for us! Besides this kinds of promotion we will doing some more competitions and such. I think we will always be an underground band, the music we make will never appeal to the masses and for me that is not an issue. I feel that I would rather make music that I enjoy and have a limited fan base than doing something commercial just to get a famous band. Don't get me wrong I would love it if The Gardnerz would become bigger of course, but I would never change what we do to get there. So to answer your question, I am happy in the underground.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<b>II) Six years have elapsed since you started your band. I know it is not a great amount of time but obviously, you got older; and being this entity a part of your lives. One must always move forward because life itself is changing, the music is changing. The music is now more mature than before, musicianship improved that is distinct on Exiting Reality. Since 2008, how do you see the band’s evolution during the last 6-7 years? What has changed, what hasn't?</b><br />
<br />
<i>Wilhelm: - The things you mention of course comes to mind. But one of the biggest things for myself is that I have found exactly what I want to do. I look at our first album as an experiment where I was trying out things and trying to figure what I wanted to do. I mean I had an idea of what I wanted. But I feel that today that idea is crystal clear, I know exactly what I want the band to sound like and what I do not want the band to sound like. I started this band as a little solo playground for myself as I was very tired of being in bands and not being able to do exactly what I want to do. So I still approach writing the same way. What has changed, hmm not that much actually, some members has come and gone. I have been very fortunate to play with really skilled people and most importantly good people. I guess the biggest thing for me that was very important and still is very important is the notion of self. I want to create music that sounds like The Gardnerz, I don't see a point in playing music that sounds like a clone of someone ells.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<b>III) Your unique and highly realistic way of thinking and profound musicianship is absolutely good. As a musician, as an artist, as an individual, do you think that this kind of music or the music you make for the band have led you into directions you wouldn't have expected?</b><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Wilhelm: - First of, thank you very much. Most defiantly, and in many ways. I think listening to metal has given me many things. One thing that pops up is a large vocabulary of nasty and disgusting words ha-ha. Since lyrics, titles and band names in metal generally stretches way beyond most other genres I think metal is a great teacher.And if we look at it from the perspective of playing, the things I have gotten from playing is too many to mention. Meeting, both in real life and online so many people that I would never have meet if I was not in a band. I mean I have gotten many "holiday homes" all around the world from getting in contact with people through the band. So far I have my friend <u>Nuno Ribeiro</u> in Portugal twice. A guy I got to know when his zine <u>www.heavyhardmetalmania.net</u> reviewed our début album. I have many people to visit that I have meet through the band and music in general.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<b>IV) The music of The Gardnerz is refreshing combination of technique, wary, candour and grace. Indeed, a death/doom metal with a different perspective. This kind of creative effort is what contemporary metal band needs today. But a track like “Transylvanian Hunger” is a nondescript in a first few listens but later I arrived at a profound conclusion that it’s a ne plus ultra. My question is, in what way can we say that The Gardnerz is very much your personal expression?</b><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Wilhelm: - I would like to say that The Gardnerz is an extension of myself. I always strive to create something unique. I mean it is not that we are doing something that is totally new. But at least I want to try to create something that sounds a bit different. We are working in the confounds of the death /doom metal genera but I feel that just because we play a certain style. We do not have to check of every box. I think it is way more interesting to throw in different influences. In this band I have taken all my musical influences. Everything from Katatonia, Bolt Thrower, Broken Hope, Acheron to Jj Cale, Bob Dylan and John Prine. </i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>When I started this band I was so fed up with the asphyxiation of clone bands. The scene was and is overflowing with bands that are just a bland copy of other bands. And I see no point at all to do the same thing. I mean I took influences from the bands and artists that I mentioned, and others of course and mixed it all together. Besides the musical aspect, the band is filled with my ideas and thoughts. In the lyrics and cover art. I have not written all the lyrics but all lyrics are based on my ideas and thoughts. </i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<b>V) The Gardnerz music is not immediately liking thing as one must approach it with open mind. Yes, the transmutation of practice and true beliefs into music imbues the power and forces that the ordinary crowd cannot experience, but don’t you think that people will understand your concept and what The Gardnerz is all about, beyond the music?</b><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Wilhelm: - I think that The Gardnerz is a band that you either get or you don't. I do not mean in an elitist way. But with a band name like ours you have to have an opened mind and drop your pretentions. I have read many comments where people have dissed us because of the name. And stupid as this might sound, that was sort of the point. I wanted to create something that represented myself, and I think a slightly dyslexic landscaping enthusiast is a perfect metaphor for myself ha-ha. If people get the message we try to get across? I don't know, if people do that makes me glad and if they are just in it for some slow tunes I am all for that as well. I personally don't care that much about lyrics when I listen to music. If the lyrics are good I see it as a very big plus. But if not it is not a deal breaker for me. Sure if the deviate too much from my core beliefs I generally stay away.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<b>VI) The creation of your music is a very natural flow which you simply let happen. You have said “I create music that I find interesting, no matter what twists and turns it might take”, so the next record will be a new musical direction of your oeuvre? I am curious about how the next record will turn out, but methinks that it will top everything that has yet been created by you. People want their metal albums to be worth the money and time they spend on it. </b><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Wilhelm: - Well not really, we are still doing the same melodic offbeat death doom metal. I mean I try not to repeat myself to bad. But I am still using the same general idea for what I want to create. The new album contains song written from 2010 to 2013, so it will have a bit of everything in them. I have a few different ways I like to create styles, and those few tricks are still being used. I hope the new album will not disappoint. We had 15 songs and we choose the once we liked the best, and the once that worked best together as an album. I am very proud of the songs and I think it is the best we have done. I mean if I did not what would be the point in doing it.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>The listener today is often very picky on what they buy. And I think that is fun and exciting. As you say that puts the pressure on me to create something awesome. I hope we have pulled it off. I think we are living in very interesting times for creating music. Because of the advances in technology anyone can create a decent sounding album in the bed room. This of course has left the scene over flooded with mediocre shit, that is the bad side but the good side is that the more shit there is the more nuggets of gold there are.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<b>VII) It’s good to know there are some bands who aren't afraid to innovate and keep the music fresh. The mini-album “It all Fades” provides what I am talking about. It has surely a progressive and unpredictable approach. That stuff is worth more than just a full-length album and it is worth keeping close to my heart as it’s mollifying me a lot. Are The Gardnerz really about trying to be innovative and avant-garde for its own sake, or rather concerns your quest to reach the essence behind this music? And what Intentions and the mission you wish to pursue within your art and altogether?</b><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Wilhelm: - I am not really trying to be anything, I just want to create music that I would enjoy myself. And also to have fun with music, I think the aspect of fun is what the most important part is for me. I see creating a song as laying a puzzle, I love that part of playing around with ideas and just see what happens. Since I am not a trained musician a lot of what I do is just experimentation and seeing if things work together. And how things work together. I have learned everything I know about theory through creating my music. After creating something that sounds nice, I have tried to figure out why and thus learning about harmonies and so on. </i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>My mission with the band was and is just as an outlet for my ideas. I find it very relaxing to just sit down and create my songs. I write music and demo the songs at the same time (since I have a tendency to forget otherwise) and that is if we take it to essence is what I want to do. It is also extremely cool to see the songs take shape and change when the other members add their parts to the song. To relate to what you asked, I think if you try too hard to create something it will generally not turn out that great. I mean if I sit down and go, OK now I am going to create something great and unique. The result will most often result in the opposite.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<b>VIII) The song writing is so focused on “Exiting Reality”. Rather than just attempting to go for a straightforward death/doom approach. You did your devoir to please the listeners methinks. The lyrics deal with philosophical ideas which is another aspect adding to the total appeal of the band other than the music. More thoughts I get when I listen to the music and read the lyrics. How much of a role yours own personal philosophical beliefs play in the music? Don’t you have the intention to make your philosophical ideas comprehensible for everyone?</b><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Wilhelm: - I would say that it has played a huge role. Both in the lyrics and the music. As I said before the lyrics all deal with my own ideas and thoughts. Sometimes written sole by myself and sometimes interpreted by Niclas. For example the title of our début album was "borrowed" from the main book that I used while writing my bachelors essay at university. So I think it is pretty safe to say that it is an extension of myself. The title of our EP "It all fades" was about my view on humanity and our place on this earth. I see us as a pest that will end up killing ourselves. And the earth will keep on spinning in space long after we are gone. And soon enough all traces of our existence will be erased.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Not really, I have no intention to do missionary work ha-ha. I mean I feel that the band is enough to get my ideas out. And for that matter I think there are way more intelligent and articulated people out there spreading the good word about for example atheism and the dangers of religion. I have always been a "whatever floats your boat" kind of a guy. So whatever makes someone ells happy why I should judge?</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<b>IX) You are a voracious reader I presume and that is such thing to be emblazoned your imagination for the band or to exalt your wisdom. Besides, which writers or persons have influenced you most and aesthetically as well as philosophically how do you want them to align with your vision and develop accordingly? And would you ever consider placing your ideas in a different context? Such as writing a book, blogs etc.? (Smile).</b><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Wilhelm: - I read a lot when I was at university, but after that I felt a bit burned out with academia. And reading tricky books. I have more tried to live my life according to the principals of the Philosophers I read in my youth. I have been greatly influenced by Epicurus, Phyrron, Nietzsche, Diogenes the Cynic, Horkheimer/Adorno and Baron D' Holbach. I could mention many more but these are the once that I think meant the most to me. I have planned to re-read Thus Spake Zarathustra this summer while I am at holiday. One thing that bugs me about all the philosophy I have read is that I never seem to remember quotes. I would love to be able to throw around some nice Nietzsche quotes. But I can't. I always just remember general themes and such. But I guess that is better than nothing.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>I have been thinking about writing a book, but I guess it would be a novel or maybe a thriller. I don't really feel like writing a gospel or something, as I said before I think there are way more intelligent people out there who has done that way better than I ever could. And regarding blogs, I hate them. So I would never get one myself. Don't get me wrong I think they can be a great platform for zines/bands and so on. But just as a place for me publishing my rants, I pass. I get enough keyboard time doing interviews and writing my songs. So I am content with that.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i><b>X) Many bands out there are clearly based upon Anti-Christian ideas and so forth. Do you think that Satanism and anti-religion themes (in Death Metal) are such vague concepts today as completely irrelevant in 21st century? And, this is an age of bands trying to attract people solely through cover artwork, bizarre lyrical themes or trying to be more Kvlt. A very few musicians like you have been able to break out of this mould.</b></i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Wilhelm: - I think that bands using this just for the shock value these days are on very thin ice. Since in my opinion the whole satanic things is so done to death it is not very interesting or provocative any more. If the band members are real Satanists, then I see why they should not sing about it. I do believe that the listener today is way harder to shock. So just using Satanism today as an image thing is something that is disappearing.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Regarding the anti-religious themes I think they are most relevant today. I mean with growing radicalisation on all religious fronts. I see a growing need for the anti-religious movement to grow and spread. But then again, if done purely as a shock thing. I don't see a point. Maybe I have a very Scandinavian point of view since our society is totally secularised and you are viewed as weird if you are religious. I mean here there is no shock value at all singing about that religion is bad. One thing I do believe is that the age of "Neanderthal" anti-religious lyrics are gone. I will not mention names, but there are many bands that I love with all my heart, but their lyrics are so corny, Satan this, fuck god that. I think the listener today is way pickier than before. Maybe I am getting old, but I remember a few years ago when one of my favourite black metal bands released an album (again I will not name the band since I am in no way interesting in making any fan boys wet their draws) I could not get in to it since the lyrics was just so weak.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<b>XI) Are you guys more familiar with each other’s attitude? (I think not. that’s why Niclas left the band. A jokes apart).</b><i> </i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Wilhelm: - I think we know what we all think and believe pretty well. I mean I have known Niclas, Francisco and Vedran for a pretty long time at this point. Even thou I have not known our new vocalist Johan that long, he and I have had some very interesting and in depth conversations. So I am pretty sure I know what he believes more or less. For me it has always been very important to have members in the band that I like on a personal level.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>I have played in many bands where we did not meet at that level. And that always lead to problems. So I said to myself when I started this band that I would rather just create demos by myself that no one would hear than use members I did not like at a personal level. </i><i>He he well since he did not want to sing about unicorns like I have planned for the next album, he had to go ;-).</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<b>XII) I hope that the new album has some new twists vocally for Johan. And is it possible to compare Johan Berstrom with Niclas? Tell us about their nature and way of working on music. Niclas was a lyricist too.</b><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Wilhelm: - I am sure the vocals will be absolutely sick on the new album, we have not started working on them thou. I have some ideas and I know Johan has some ideas. We have only spoken about the vocals in a broad sense. Johan said that he does not want the vocals to change too much, he wants it to sound like The Gardnerz. </i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Obviously he sounds different than Niclas. But he wanted to keep the general idea and style of what Niclas has been doing. When it comes to vocals I give the vocalist total freedom to do whatever they want. I mean I want the main vocals to be growling but all ideas are welcome. If it works, great if not we will just try something different.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Johan has told me that he is not that used to do "black metal" vocals but that he is willing to try. And that is all I ask. One of the things I liked about working with Niclas was that he had a huge range so the vocals where very varied. And that is something that we are going to try to keep. Yes Niclas wrote a lot of the lyrics and a lot of the times we wrote together. I think that we will continue in the same way with Johan. We have lyrics for one song that Niclas finished. So I think we will keep it since Niclas gave his blessing.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<b>XIII) Is Paulina Strihavka involved in other bands to uplift and enrich her artistic excellency? I love Paulina as she can manage to capture the emotion and vitality of the music you make, that is distinct on It All Fades. I wanted to express my desire to listen more from her in the near future.</b><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Wilhelm: - She plays in a cover band called "<u>Thoms Trio</u>". Head over to <u>www.thomstrio.se/lyssna.html</u> and check it out. I heard her talking about some other projects. But nothing concrete. But don't worry she will be on the new album. As soon as Johan is done with his parts we will fill the rest of the album with Paulina’s amazing voice. And if you search Wilhelm Paulina on YouTube you will find some cover songs (plus pictures of my cats) she and I recorded around the time of It all fades. The idea was to create a band out of it. I hope these songs and news will hold you over!</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<b>VIV) I'm not so fond of all the new death metal bands out there but I am liking what The Gardnerz do as you will never stop evolving to new, unseen states of music. The Gardnerz are enfant terrible! Real music written by real people with unique ideas, who can express them thoroughly but that's lacking these days I think. With this we come to an end of this conversation. This is just another interview of The Gardnerz. But it’s my pleasure to interview a ripsnorter like you. Aurevoir.</b><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Wilhelm: - Thanks a lot for taking your time to talk with me, and thank you for writing interesting questions. That is also something that is lacking today! Keep your eyes open for the new album that will be released late this year!</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Thanks for the support!</i><br />
<i>Cheerio</i><br />
<i>Wilhelm.</i><br />

<b><u>A homage to Steeve Hurdle on his second death anniversary.</u></b></h2>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Myriad images flash one's mind at the mere mention of Steeve Hurdle as we can recognise him easily when we know his style. With his passing, we have lost an excelsior musician perhaps as importantly, Gorguts have lost an innovator. Who died of surgical failure aged 41 in 2012. There might have been great architectures of grotesque aural art before and after Steeve but the only thing which always stands the test of time is art. He had managed to keep fans fascinated by his incandescent transcendental creativity for Gorguts for years. And his grandiose presence, in albums including, Inverted Decay (1992), Purulence/Amaymon split (1993), Obscura (1998), and Negativa (2006) have led to the boundaries of compartmentalization. Although Obscura overshadow Steeve's other works. 'Purulent' is by far, one of the most brilliant works by this exceptional guitarist-vocal.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
What I really like about his music composing is that it’s always on several level. He had a big role in bringing the dissonance and complexity to song writing, For example, 'Sinking into Transparency' was a game changer for death metal. Love that song I mean, their entire side of that split was way ahead of its time just like Demilich. His works are eternal, it’s not stuck in a time as they are forever. It something that is made incarnate. Today May 20th 2014, Steeve Hurdel's second death anniversary.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;">He was born on 15th August 1971 at St. Vincent hospital in Sherbrooke, Canada. He took an early interest in Metal. He threw himself into music with compelling enthusiasm and worked constantly. He could express the potential depth through his bands. The vibrant mind of this luminary forever sought new avenues to satisfy his creative urges. He had written lyrics for Gorguts, to which he belonged to another level with his artistic vision and genius.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;">The Different people like Steeve Hurdle for different reasons, my affection for this departed soul comes from that fact. It was not about enjoying Steeve's guitar execution style or Luc's brutal vocals, the music of Gorguts in the nineties was like a mind-numbing atmosphere of the crypts of insanity and delirium and goes to an apocalyptic direction. Such intense musical intelligence, which isn't very easily available around. There have been bands that successfully warped the genre 'death metal' to a remarkable degree, creating originality through creativity and undiluted personal expression.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
A track like 'Clouded' provides a good reference of what I am talking about. An unexplainable atmosphere comes whenever I attention to it. Timeless, that one word that keeps playing in my mind whenever I listen/think to 'Obscura' as it was technically impeccable. I love when Gorguts gets slow and dis-harmonic, the sound is akin to the pure agony one must feel from trying to reach a stage of enlightenment. A struggle, catharsis that never seems to resolve itself. A few words about the album itself. "Obscura" is almost like a religious experience to me. When I first heard 'Clouded', I was crushed and transcended. Magical, is an appropriate word. I was 9 or 10 years old when it was released but its songs refuse to fade out even today, when I am 24. The densely enraptures music was a true classic for sure. Cannot possibly imagine a better song than 'Nostalgia' or 'The Carnal Stage' on this immaculate album, or for that matter, a better album than 'Obscura'. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
More to the point, Obscura, as the name is an apt title for the collection of epiphanies present on this work of art. Scathing and pummelling and yet highly subtle. This was definitely one of the most eerie and abysmal sounding albums ever. Ne plus ultra. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The cover art (he embodied the mediating figure on the cover) and lyrics also enhance the experience of the music on this album. That's how albums should be presented to an audience. Everything should be well conceived, with much thought put into every detail so that every component makes the album whole. Music, vocals, lyrics, artwork they all matter that's why I like concept albums even albums that aren't necessarily considered concept albums, sort of are like Obscura for example. There is a unifying theme throughout the entire record, nothing was random. It’s cinematic, in its delivery. Steeve gave some serious innovations for this massive third record of Gorguts. This album, which is Hurdle's peak. They felt special and unique, and discovering them was like uncovering some lost and forgotten treasure. Now it is a repository of memories. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Another album that gave me a similar dark religious experience was DsO's Fas -Ite... The use of silence and minimalism in part makes me feel like I'm suspended high above in cathedral of horrors. The cover art is so absolutely fitting for that record, the depiction of Lucifer falling from god's graces, falling in endless darkness from which there is no bottom. Another album is 'The Destroyers of All' by Ulcerate and the track 'Omens' is one of my favourite modern pieces of metal/atmospheric music. The staggeringly gorgeous track is transcendental as fuck. Obscura/Fas - Ite.../The Destroyers of All stand up as the best in the last decade and a staple requirement for any true aficionado of grotesque aural art. Real music written by real people with unique ideas, who could express them thoroughly but that's lacking these days methinks. I would like to state that Gorguts will always be the inspirational death metal band of all time and just can't believe it was two years ago today that we lost such an enormous visionary talent. Rest in peace Steeve Hurdle, still missed by so many.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">After the first Negativa EP. Everybody was kinda happy</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Canada, is a centre of intellectual and artistic ferment. Existing in two decades for a band is a big deal as Gorguts continue to work the best till date. The death of this extraordinary man was not the huge blow to the band methinks as this band's level of humility and respect for their art is vitalizing even today and that is distinct on colossal massiveness of 'Colored Sands'. There are countless extreme metal motherfuckers who have Steeve's aural ecstatic woven into their life. But people are usually forgotten after their favourite musicians die. It happens to the best of people, at the most they are perfunctorily remembered on their birth and death anniversaries.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
He lived thousands of miles away, I have never met or spoken to him but the void of this departed man make a way to an incredible sense of loss. 2 years ago today since he left the world. Time marches on natheless memories stay. As I said before 'only thing which always stands the test of time is art'. I find that the people I don't personally know are the people I respect the most. He's the one person I regret never being able to have a conversation with. Let this day be a day of remembrance and reflection of his great music. He is a genius that the humankind has produced.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>An apt word to define the South-American metal scene is probably vast. It’s vicious in production, pulsating with talent, manifesting the original sound etc. In the recent years I did not notice any remarkable new black metal act hailing from Brazil, but there are a few great acts I sincerely respect and appreciate. Ain Sof Aur stand out when it comes to most of that 'bestial' black metal style. I can't really think of another band which sounds as destructive as them from the country.</b></div>
<b><br /></b>
<b>Ain Sof Aur is a band that dealing with Vama Marga and Death Worship. It was conceived in 2006 as a medium of a destructive force against all creation. It an extension of each individual linked to their fraternity’s will. In 2012, they entered the studio to record their début album, <i>“Atra Serpents”</i>. The first manifestation of this luminaries seems not simple on the first listen, but reveals more layers with time. A sonic abomination of evil and death. This interview conducted by Ebby Sasi from Imhotep Webzine. Do a careful read to very profound answers by them. Ain Sof Aur are currently one of the promising bands emerging from the underground abyss of Brazil. Behold.</b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dz2QRb5JbmtTS2WFfgbtenIztrw6sfm0y0_CdihH2BenAyKneLV1iJM79YodZgydquWMC3oREA4K6Bfd884Og' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>I) Greetings, probably this is my second interview with a band from Brazil. Before we get into the interview I want to know that older bands such as Mystifier, Headhunter D.C. Vulcano are still around as well but how is the scene in Brazil now, compared to the early years?</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>Bereshith:</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>It depends on your concept of “scene”, what it stands for, etcetera. If the concept deals with an agglomerate of bands playing the same “genre” or type of music, or simply with people sharing interest of those bands’ music. For us it’s hard to stick to the standard perception of being another metal band reuniting with others for some drinks and headbanging. </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>Our Devotion lies beyond being true or proving to others what we do or what we don’t do. It’s plain indifference. We see a lot of people desperately needing self-approval, seeking acception in groups in this whole “scene” concept. Those people try to build an elitist “grimness” based on other people’s dogmas, thoughts, including other band’s actions and quotes, to educate themselves and pretend to play some sort of sharade. They usually call this RADICALISM and bless themselves with a status of being real, a materialistic individualism to nurture ego trips and self-delusions. So, if you think about what this whole scene you speak of really is, it mostly consists of people battling over status to hyper value their own ego, which isn't really our main interest in black metal. </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>Being distant, true to our ideals, free from the slavery of false individuality — i.e, having to prove oneself constantly for others, to name one of many aspects of it—, is our own reality. Answering your question, I could easily say that in the glorious times of those great bands you mentioned, people were actually concerned with the art being made and the ideology behind it. Today, I’d say people are concerned with acception and pretending to be harbingers of the past, when they have actually nothing to offer. </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>II) What do you think has been the most important impact of your band? Besides, do you think that makes your band unique in terms of approach music compared to other black metal bands in your country because I can’t think of another band which sounds destructive as AsA from Brazil? </b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>It’s rather interesting to read about IMPACT, because we don’t actually think there’s been any. The art conceived has one sole purpose to represent Devotion and our repudiation of frail ideals that hinder men’s real ascension. Our goal isn't directed toward the human auction or metal concerts. Of course, we do play live, but no mundane credit actually interests us. To answer such question would be to, say, claim what we have that others don’t, and this kind of attitude I’ll leave to rockstars wannabes.</i> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>III) Since 2006, how do you see the band’s evolution during the last 6-7 years? Released two demos and a full length album, played a lot of gigs, what has changed, what hasn't?</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>A lot has happened since the band started, we experienced a lot in the musical field, as well as going through a lot of line-up changes (mostly bassists). 7 years is a great amount of time and, obviously, we got older; and being this entity a part of our lives, it was directly influenced by every individual’s personal experiences. So the music is now more mature than before, musicianship improved (a little, but it did) and so did many of our views within the black metal scene (to use this term from the first question). We are also changing our views on live performances, reducing them as much as possible. Good equipment is sincerely out of the question when dealing with producers and the amount of stress we usually get on the backstage when facing what we’ll have to use really affects the energy we desire to channel. It’s inefficient. So we only perform live when we are certain of at least sound coming out of amps, instead of them turning off out of a sudden, for example. The bands that are on stage with us, the purpose of the ceremony, also determine our participation on the event. </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>IV) Atra Serpents is the début album which was released in 2012. It’s an essential record for sure but you may not offer much in the way of originality, but the intensity of the band is laudable. This is not an album to dissect and analyse as I said before the album is generic but acceptable in many ways but my question is that were you simply compelled to create dark hymns of your own design?</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>Like you stated, it’s not an album to dissect and analyse, simply because it was intended to be an experience, a spiritual immersion in the lawless Chaos that emanates from this first record.</i><u style="font-style: italic;"> I personally don’t get reviews and analysis for black metal, which is something to be felt, something abstract that deals with inner emotions, projections and energies. So, we weren't compelled to create something plastic, or manipulated to sound grim or evil, that’s simply the work of our Devotion. The work of who we are.</u><i> Atra Serpens is a destructive force of the cosmic boundaries between man and God, representing a denial of the Evangelium. It is a flirt with Death’s essence. Its intensity is felt only by those who actually understand what we aim for. Others will just stick with originality, creativity and mundane labels to describe feeling and energies that are not to be named or spoken of.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>V) Atra Serepns is beautifully portrayed for its most part but were there any things that you tried to do but failed on Atra Serpens? Besides, what does this album most represent? Care to elaborate on what influences AsA, both on a musical and thematic level?</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>We've had many frustrations with the professionals who were supposed to help us, whom in the end turned out to really ruin many of our expectations. Atra Serpens is a low budget album in many ways, but it was everything we could afford at the time. The energy invested was in its purest form, BLACK and deadly, like venom was spew out of mouths toward existence. Still, apart from the flaws — especially in the booklet print, thanks to the company responsible for pressing it —, the result came out to be pretty reasonable, considering the circumstances it was conceived under. Atra Serpens deals with a process of man's spiritual evolution. The title 'black serpent' means, briefly, what is considered to be an abomination by right handed path religion's standards. The use of theology and philosophical views may corroborate what we say on an inverted perspective. An existence that will or have reached apotheosis through Death. This album marks only the beginning of the journey toward that goal, as a metaphor to our own initiation.</i> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>VI) ‘Celestial Moral’ offers an intensely impassioned performance of raw and morbid black metal, filled with chaotic melodies and raw vocal lines and ‘Marduk-Apla-Iddina-II’ is perilous as the intense guitar riffs to the forceful vocal delivery and straight forward drums. How hard it was to develop those dense song structures patterns for the highly intricate music?</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>Like I stated, our compositions (to put a name to those manifestations) are conceived by who we are, the result of each individual linked to our Fraternity. We did not strive to make a sonic manifestation, it’s a natural consequences of like-minded individuals set up together. Usually, lyrics and incantations are the basis for guitar, drums and bass compositions, since they’ll follow the general idea behind it and what kind of energies we want to invoke in the proper way. "Marduk-Apla-Iddina-II" came out after a one year old hiatus we were forced to take when we lost two major members who moved to another city. It was S.A.’s first assault, a presentation and reminder of what Ain Sof Aur was spawned for</i>. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>VII) And how do the other members' contributions both lyrically and musically fit accordingly to your expectations?</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<u><i>Ain Sof Aur art is the result of a group work. Even though I write the lyrics, concepts, other members play a major role in giving life to those concepts. So I would not say I have MY expectations, but WE hold it as a Fraternity, linked to the qliphotic forces that are behind each composition of ours. Our art is one, not only a mass of sound baptised under the label METAL. Its visual art, music and philosophies behind it. It is rather impossible to attribute one aspect of it to certain egoistic side such as individual expectations.</i></u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<u><i><br /></i></u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>VIII) “Resquiessence in Abscess” is very fast-paced and straight-forward, this features more possessed vocals and pure chaos. I loved this one. Can you explain how much of this album directly reflects your own knowledge? Don’t you think that transformation of knowledge in to music makes uniqueness in the composition?</b> <b>Any personal bonding moments you care to share?</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>This song deals with the remains of the essence of the divine failure of Creation in men, or he who is realizing a whole new perception of existence in a metaphysical point of view. It'd be, in a certain way, a stigmata originated from the spears/swords of Death and its Holiness moulding a new form of abomination. No personal bonding moments to speak of. This manifesto is but one side of the monument we strived to build. And yes, I agree that the transmutation of practice and true beliefs into music imbues it with power and forces that the ordinary crowd cannot experience. Atra Serpens is a mark of what Ain Sof Aur actually is the worship of Death and the immersion in the Nightside of existence</i>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>IX) No matter how brilliant the music is, if the lyrics simply suck, the whole impression suffers methinks. Tell us about the lyrics portrayed on Atra Serpens, in a more personal and philosophical way?</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>In general, the whole booklet is a complete concept of what Atra Serpens really is — apart from the whole idea that this album is to be felt, it is an abstract insight that might be difficult to name or explain. The booklet itself is the actual philosophy behind it, questioning the Gospel of Creation and abandoning it as a frailty of such faith is portrayed. In order to achieve higher states of consciousness one should actually acknowledge what is actually being denied, why and what for. Only them one is ready to choose what Path to follow and which goal will be pursued. Atra Serpens is the first step, a symbol to acceptance of Spiritual Death and the beginning of the journey for apotheosis.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>X) Ain Sof Aur are a rather black metal act which emphasis raw sound with much élan. The album is elevated to such a barbaric level. Is it important to you to keep that aspect?</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>No, as this would compromise the whole concept of making art imbued with power and essence. To manipulate something is to cut loose the sincerity behind it and maculate the ideals that are behind the art. Hence, to us, it is important to keep the essence of what we want to create and the message behind it; this will be carved on the song structure, be it brutal or slow.</i> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>XI) What other bands do you feel share the same ideals and principles of Ain Sof Aur?</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>It is rather difficult to speak on behalf of other individuals, but we salute and hail bands that are in conspiracy with Death and Chaos, namely the almighty Ofermod, Mortuus, Deathspell Omega, Saturnalia Temple, Teitanblood, Antinomian, Obscure Anachronism, Vulturine and many others.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>XII) Being one album old band, how difficult was it to find a distributing label for your début album? Besides, how the deal with <i>Desgraça Records</i> did come along?</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>Rather hard, since we are widely unknown and that’s not a bad thing. Our art reaches the individuals, not the opposite. So no one would burn their hands for us, so our art remained quite ignored for some time. Outside of Brazil was even harder, mostly because many labels demanded demo sounds in LP or tape, which is quite hard to make around here. We’d need a label for that, at best.So we depended on MP3 to show people, and being a band from Brazil, we were majorly ignored most of the time. Then we got a proposition from Desgraça Records to split the costs for pressing the discs and we ended up doing that. We are very grateful for "</i><i style="text-decoration: underline;">Andrêy</i>"<i> for encouraging us to keep our black flames burning as he believed in what we did when no one else did. So there’d be no Atra Serpens now if not for his efforts. Unfortunately, he decided to end his activities and we are labelless at the time.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>XIII) You are constructing songs for the next release already. Will it show a more mature side of AsA? And are there any unreleased tracks that you might release in the future?</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Atra Serpens was conceived on 2010, even though it was released in 2012. So there’s an abyss of 4 years between each work, even though it’s been 2 years after we began fully working with our next release. Thus, indeed will it feature a mature side of Ain Sof Aur, though with a few changes in the line-up since the first album, being this new work very Death Metal oriented.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>XIV) Can you throw some light on your view of black metal as there are some bands that they don’t enjoy to have contacts with people and never do band mail nor any kind of promotion because they believe that internet has a negative influence on black metal?</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>Black metal is a manifestation of individualism in a sense, although not the material individualism that symbolizes ego trips and superficial satisfactions. I speak of one’s inner emotions, feelings, energies that can only be manifested through this form of music in an aggressive or introspective way. Also, it’s a powerful medium to the dark forces that are to be channelled with our music</i>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>XV) Are you involved in other bands to explore your artistic excellency? The interview ends here.</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
